  You are correct. Vacuum tubes are allegedly immune to EMP, but what I think Xander is talking about is HPM (Microwave). HPM is like EMP, but not exactly. It sounds like vacuum tubes may not be immune to HPM, but I'm not sure.

  Me, I can't wait until they have fieldable "sonic" weapons. With directed sound pulses you can take a person out without killing them. It would work great in hostage situations like the one in Argentina at the Japanese Embassy. Hit the building with a direced sound pulse that incapacitates everyone in the building, secure the building, no one dies.

  The technology already exists, the military is developing it's applications.
