I don't know who or where this quote came from, but it is good :

You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in god.

If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind.

If there is a benevolent god, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him"

    Thanks Nicolaou!

I have no words at this stage accept extreme gratitude that the blindfolds fell off.

Billy, maybe he should have made it easier to distinguish! You know, I've sat through many episodes of Murder She Wrote in the 80's and rarely pinpointed the culprit/innocent victim. If you are so hellbent (no pun intended) to be worshiped, how about hanging some flashing lights and reflective tape around you and made the manual easier to read and interpret. Just saying . . .

Well it takes time to come out of the mental fog of this so called 'religion'(mental indoctrination) puts you into, so just do more research and remove all doubt and then this question should eventually never come up and bother anybody once one has done his due diligence over the matter.

You could ask yourself what if Martians land on the earth, or what if pigs fly, or any of a thousand other improbable "what ifs". The question is not "what if it's the truth" but why would it be?

You just have to use common sense and reason, and the possibility that some almighty creator made humans and then sat idly by while his creation killed each other in a million cruel ways seems quite remote to me.

    I go with the odds.

The problem is that the Golden Rule is not the sum total of New Testament teaching, nor even of Jesus' teaching, and in the end it won't be Robert Ingersoll or you or me whose judgment will prevail.

Lest anyone misunderstand, I am not saying that the WT version of things is "the truth."

"But what if it IS the truth?"

    To that I will respond:

"But what if it is NOT the truth? What if you're worshipping the wrong God? What if you're worshipping the right God in the wrong way? Given that there are so many different religions with conflicting beliefs and Gods, the odds that you have the right one is very slim. If there really is just one God who must be worshipped in one particular way to earn is favor, then mathematically speaking, you have odds of winning his favor that's not very much better than zero. And what kind of God causes or allows such a state of religious confusion to persist in the world, with no definitive, objective evidence of his existence, making it very hard to figure out exactly which way he is to be worshipped or to be certain that he exists at all, and then turns around and damns people for not getting it right? Certainly not a God worthy of worship!"

Ding; "in the end it won't be Robert Ingersoll or you or me whose judgment will prevail"

The usual barely veiled religious threat?
