Why bother creating all the other galaxies?

  I'm still reading and researching the bible. A thought occurred to me... The universe is so huge and full yet most of it cannot be seen by the naked human eye.

  While jw's could claim that God created the stars to look pretty/ for navigation... What about the rest that cannot be seen? The huge never ending mass of universe that the bronze age writers of the bible had no idea about?

  What was the point of creating all that? I mean its not like humans can easily go visit and explore it all. The gaseous nebulas out there and lack of oxygen mean that humans cannot live out there without man made technology.

  So again what was the point of making it all? From a bible apologists and jw viewpoint of course...

  Again the ancient Religionists thought we were the center of the universe.

  Coppernicus and Galileo proved this to be untrue. But religion cannot be wrong, you see, as they have God directing them. But when they are proven wrong, they make some shit excuse up like 'God was testing us' or crap like that.

  Thanks to Nasa's Kepler mission, we now know there are other Earth-like planets in the cosmos (such as Kepler 186f: kepler-186f-the-first-earth-size-planet-in-the-habitable-zone ). So much for our planet being unique. It is a real possibility these Kepler planets are inhabited.

  The 'pale blue dot' image from the Voyager 1 space craft showed just how insignificant our planet really is in the grandness of the universe ... "a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.   When I was a JW I had the following line of reasoning:

  After the thousand years when new books are opened, perfected humanity would probably be allowed to populate the universe. Then the good lord Jehoober would perhaps create other intelligent species, but the matter of sovereignty would have been settled seeing as human history would be the legal president.

  It would be impressive to look out and see NOTHING beyond our Earth. Or if Galileo had discovered a giant Space Turtle supporting the planet.

  Didn't you know that all other galaxies and EVERYTHING else in the Universe is just for us?? Jeehoober made a gigantic Rube Goldberg contraption that serves the sole purpose of keeping the Earth in place??

  It is one of those points that are so obvious and uncontested that it is often missed it is evidence against a christian world-view. If our universe only contained our sun (or our sun and a few more stars) it would be a great mystery why our planet was suitable for life; that is on theism we can have a single sun or billions of sun, whereas on naturalism we expect there to be billions of suns. The many galaxies we see is then evidence for naturalism.

  One thing to think about is why God would create two galaxies crashing into each other. Or stars blowing up.

  Crashing galaxies and stars blowing up are a perfect example of how the Universe shows signs of order and disorder but not intelligence.
