Well, my department at work is in the process of being taken over by IBM, and we've had lots of info on the pros and cons to our working conditions presented to us.
Now...retirement age, well IBM have a retirement age of 63 and my company has a retirement age of 60. This has been presented to us as a bonus. "Hey!!! you can work for us for longer!!!!"
And then it dawned on me for the first time in my life... I thought oh shit!, these companies really don't want you when you're old do they??? It was like I has just woke up and smelt the coffee.
