  absolutely right! ... greed, hunger for power, and sometimes hate drive and drove most of the leaders (hitler, stalin, (out of respect i will not mention any US leaders ) and all the f**king kings and emperors the world has seen).

  and just how easily they get the people into doing what they want...just throw in a little bit of patriotism and/or religious nonsense and the masses follow them on the battle field.

  just look on how easily hate is generated in the population right now...in america against the europeans (especially the french) and vice versa.

  would anyone die for British Petrol, Shell or Exxon on one side or for saddam and his palasts on the other? probably not. but for religion and patriotism they do!

  Just a little example of where this current tide of "patriotism" is taking us.........My wife e-mailed a little joke about Bush to her sister last week. When her sister went to open it, a window came up a informed her that a message "derogatory to our government" was intercepted and that she will not be able to receive it. This really happened, it was a simple little joke. Remember what one late, great statesman said, "Those that are willing to trade security for freedom, deserve neither."

  And by-the-way, all this conjuring up the spectre of Nazi Germany...nothing seems more like it than all this talk about "patriotism to the homeland", using it as a vehicle to allow this administration to go unchecked. Take some time and look back at pre-war Germany and the similarities are amazing.

  her company is filtering out government jokes.......my company filters out porn......egads! where does it end? pretty soon theyll be controlling our every thought!

  color me skeptical, but i have a really hard time believing that our government has nothing better to do than examine joke forwards to john and jane nobody. sounds like an urban legend to me.

  once again....HEY DUBLA!!!!!....you can invalidate this experience all you want. I was the one to open her e-mail back to us explaining what happened. I wish it was something fictional, out of a movie, but it happened. So scary.

  well, i guess they havent perfected their filtering process yet then, because none of the 3000 bush jokes ive had forwarded to me have been caught in their web so far. i suppose its a pretty big task though, and it will take some time and effort to crack down on these deragatory emails..........and to think, they are using our tax money to fund this crap.

  I read somewhere on the net that email filtering is now standard and it all part of a greater Jewish conspiracy to take over the world.

  Let me get this straight, they have the tech to filter out Bush jokes but yet they cant get rid of all the bullshit spam????? Please...........

  It must be a locale specific thing. She lives back east, I'm on the west coast. The joke was originally e-mailed to us by someone else, and it was also sent back to us from her locale. I could be over reacting, but it sure got my attention.
