As usual, the Society likes to make you think that reading the Watchtower and Awake will not only solve your problems, it will solve everyone else's. While I'm glad the lady's son is okay, once again we have the Society making much ado about nothing. Do they think that stuff they print in the mags is the only stuff that will help people? (Of course they do) But it's really kind of pitiful that they have to resort to articles like this in order to make people believe that you learn everything you need to know in life from their magazines.
Just think of how many lives Afake! could save if it presented blood transfusions in a favorable light. It saved one life--but how many more has it failed to save?

Kenneson, that was my thought when I saw the title, without even reading the article: How many lives have been lost through the voo-doo medical pronouncements of Awake! on blood, organ transplants and vaccinations?

Yep, and after they are done laughing, they put it back in there Jokes & Humor section of their waiting room reading rack. Because, they know that truly, laughter is the best medicine.

of course it never occurs to WTBS to actually improve the living conditions so as to make lead poisoning not happen in the first place or atleast give the woman enough money to go to a decent doctor--what doctor would NOT suspect lead poisoning in that situation? saved the kids life for what? so he can live uneducated in poverty for the rest of his life and become a JW too?

I'm curious about the state of diagnostic medicine in Ecuador. Some conditions take reams of tests to diagnose. Tests that third world countries can't afford to run. That's the problem with determining the extent of the AIDS epidemic in Africa - in the First world, there are about six tests that must be performed before HIV is proven to be present. In Africa, the best they can manage is one.
But this is obviously the market that propaganda piece is aimed at: the ones who can't afford western medicine. Awake! is saying: look to us for the latest in Western medical science and technology!
