Why do Jehovah's Witnesses always answer questions through the bible?

If you are "born" into the truth, it's the only thing you've known. If that is the case with your friends, then offering a different glimpse of the world - not the dark and gloomy gray glasses of the WT doctrines - can sometimes help. Positive experiences that go against what the WT likes to pound into the heads of the followers.

I can tell when the witness at work, is thinking of how to say "the world is getting worse and worse" That is what all witnesses are trained to do when "witnessing" The last time she told me that, I said "Well then, go back and live in Roman times" That ended her little speech. Would she like to live in that time period? No. It brings to mind the unknown diseases, wars, and slavery. A few days after me saying that, I heard her trying it out on someone in the office. He counteracted by saying he believed there is far more good in the world than bad. He refused to give into her "the world is terrible and it will only get worse" line. She finally gave up. Will it change her mind? Only if she is willing. The old adage "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" applies.

And that is what may happen with your friends. If they are happy with what the religion gives them, or they are afraid of losing their place in paradise, all your efforts will fail. But it doesn't hurt to try.

Good friends love their friends unconditionally and respect boundaries and their decisions, and love them anyway. Just sayin'.

Good friends also warn them about dangerous situations and con men. Because they love them.

I've been researching Jehovah's Witnesses and their beliefs and found out that they don't believe in blood transfusions. So, I've asked one of my friends who is a J.W as to what is the reason for this, and so far, they had always directed me to a bible verse that is in their bible.

O.Kay ? J.W`s don`t believe in blood transfusions and they don`t believe in donating blood either they will refer to a scripture that says its not to be consumed and is to be poured out on the ground .

They will also be in trouble in their congregations if they use Blood & Bone fertilizer on their garden.

Ask them why is it that it is acceptable for the GB to OK their J.W members to use Blood fractions

which are derived from donated blood of worldly people in a laboratory ?

The stock answer by many J.W`s is" OH I wouldn`t use fractions of blood"{many do of course } they miss the point .The GB of J.W`s has said it`s o.k to do so ?

Isn`t that the height of hypocrisy ?

They won`t donate blood but they will use blood donated by other people so long as it is processed in a laboratory into fractions ?

edited to add: Watchtower publications / interpretations of Bible scripture take precedence over actual Bible texts.

Yep, that's what my JW's say. It highlights that under that Global brotherhood of Unity veneer the real attitude is "I'm alright Jack".

Some JW's may accept blood fractions (and burn at Armageddon) but I'm a true JW and I'll be fine, sort of thing.

The religion of Jehovah's Witnesses is not biblical. Every doctrine which is unique to Jehovah's Witnesses is extra-biblical. This includes their entire mythical eschatology which sees Jesus returning invisibly in 1914, raising the saints in the spring of 1918, judging the churches of Christendom and rejecting every last one In the fall of 1918 and finding certain leaders of the Bible Students in Brooklyn in 1919 and appointing them as his sole determiners and pervayers of truth to mankind. All extra biblical invisible stuff which must be believed or be destroyed at Armageddon.

For a group of men to claim Jesus appointed them and gave them exclusive rights and ability to interpret the Bible, you would expect them to be able to interpret Bible prophecy right at least once....which has never happened. 100 percent failure rate speaks to the contrary of their exclusive claims.

Would you like to have a list of unanswerable questions to ask them ?

How did you stumble upon Crises of Conscience? It's a little esoteric to put it mildly...

'Cause they're conditioned by their leadership to not trust basic common sense.

using the Bible isn;t the problem. it is cherry pciking verses and misapplying them that is.

In the JW mindset, the Bible is God’s word, and therefore the ultimate proof and trumps all other forms of evidence, no matter how concrete.

In truth, their basis for reality is the Watchtower interpretation of a few dozen verse which are nearly always presented out of context. There is no true exegesis. If the Bible itself contradicts Watchtower interpretation, their interpretation always wins.

Interpretation of the Bible is decided by the Governing Body. It takes a two thirds majority to change any teaching. If a JW disagrees they can find themselves in a secret backroom trial called a judicial committee, and they could be disfellowshipped for apostasy or “sowing divisions” and find themselves shunned by their family and friends.

JWs have absolute trust in the Governing Body and their representatives.

Even though they are not infallible, the mythos is they are “spirit directed”. Even if they get some things wrong occasionally, they’ve are viewed with the best of intentions. And besides God and Jesus chose them. If God and Jesus trust me…so should we!

"Beware of people of one book". Trying to convince a 'versed' JW of something against the things that he o she believes from the Bible is an impossible mission. You're gonna lost, whatever you tries.
