Russian raid on 50 Jehovahs witnesses

  There has been a raid on a large Jehovahs witness gathering in Norilsk, above the Arctic circle, according to the Moscow Times.

  A building with 50 JWs inside was surrounded by masked, armed special forces forces who burst into the building and demanded they surrender all electronic devices.

  I'll link the article but it's obviously going to drive these witnesses deeper into the religion. Not to mention the images conjured up in the report are likely to be used by Watchtower as more fear mongering, since its very much like last year's terrifying assembly videos where witnesses were huddled in a field and surrounded with similarly masked, armed men.

  JWS are peaceful delusional wackos but they aren't violent gun toting wackos.

  How about the extremist and violent murdering leader of the country Putin ?

  Russia is a regime of extreme Eurasian nationalism. The Orthodox Church is an important part of post-communist Russian identity and no challenges to that are permitted.

  Putin is a man who arranges the assassination of critical journalists and political opponents. He sanctioned the use of one of the world's most dangerous biological weapons on British soil in the murder of a double agent resulting in the death of innocents.

  No amount of outrage or protest will make the slightest difference. The Watchtower is a lost cause in Russia, but at least the Governing Body get to bask in righteous indignation from their ivory tower.

  The GB leaders of the JWS are more than willing to let the lower subservient followers take the persecution, they on the other hand evade it as much as possible.

  In other words dont expect any GB men to go to Russia to aid and encourage the persecuted ones there.

  Disgusting, anyone who values the rule of law should condemn Russias actions.

  Anyone who rejoices at this or sees it as an opportunity to score points shows how shallow and uncaring they are.

  This is not good -- I feel sorry for the Russian JWs and hope the WT didn't encourage them to continue as usual or break any laws - not that it would take much there/scary.

  Apparently they are pushing for one JW to get over 7 years in prison.

  I mean this is exactly what Watchtower needs to up the levels of F.O.G.

  One dictatorship riding roughshod over the human rights of the victims of another dictatorship.

  And the poor sheep in the middle getting shorn by both sides.
