    17 hours and 13 minutes .....

Thanx for the encouragements. You have no idea how much it is appreciated right now. I had not realised how much I needed them until righ now, now that my body is in constant craving. I guess thats the worst part, you really need them, crave for them.

    Viv,

I quit about 2 months ago. Ballistic gave me some very helpful advice - you have to combat the self-defeating, "I'll never be able to quit" inner voice. Say to yourself, I HAVE QUIT SMOKING!!! I AM A NON-SMOKER NOW!!! I found that this helps.

I don't even think about smoking now. Of course, I am rarely around smokers, so that helps.

The physical withdrawal only lasts 3 days, and really isn't so terrible. It's only as bad as your mind makes it out to be.

VIVAMUS, smoke. It's OK. It's good for you. You know you want one. So just go for it. You don't even have to tell anyone. It can be your little secret...........Seriously, GOOD for you! Don't let temptation get in your way of good health. You can do it,Viv!!!

    Hi Viv,

Wow, I can only imagine what it must be like. I never picked up the habit myself, although hubby smokes and talks about quitting....

We know of someone, about your age who made a decision to just "not have a cigarette". She said quitting and stopping were just words she couldn't live with. So, she just says to herself, "well, I can have a cigarette if I want one, but I don't want one now--maybe later". She keeps saying this to herself when the urge gets really strong. It has worked for her for over a year now. But, she never says she doesn't smoke anymore or has quit. She just makes it a personal choice each time, and she just keeps putting off the "urge" till later, and then the craving calms down and passes. Now it's not so bad at all, according to her.

Hang in there Vivamus! They say kicking a smoking habit is harder than kicking heroin. Its a tumor causing, teeth staining, smelly, puking habit. At least thats what the ads down here say about it.

I quit in '86 and I've never been sorry. You can do it too!
