Does this bother anyone else? I would think it would be mandatory for organ recipients to be organ donors as well
As a matter of fact it does bother me. I can only imagine how much the family must have been grieving. But the hospital must have pulled some enormous strings in order to get a 2'nd heart / lung set. I was very surprised the family didn't try to at least help save somebody else's life (if as you point out, that was even an option). I can't imagine why not - I don't think the organ itself wouldn't be damaged during the process of inserting it into another body. I'm sure I'm probably wrong though!
I am pretty sure a rejected organ is in no shape to be re-donated. That is the whole thing about rejection; the organs come under attack by the host body. I did notice this quote,
"This was a tragic error, and we accept responsibility for our part," said Dr. William Fulkerson
Wouldn't it be lovely if we heard these same words from the GB for their errors in judgement?
