I can see it now, we are the most beautiful and smartest people in the world.

Steve Harvey will never be the host of another beauty pageant. LOL

I was thinking, don't you think it's time for our society to move on from Beauty Pageants?

I'm sure this is not the case with all contestant, but one can become shallow and over

confident. Contestants should try to keep a straight head about it and use it

    to build good qualities.

Also I believe focusing on physical beauty can be bad for younger children and child beauty pageants,

well while the whole eduction system is in the toilet here in the US as the interest of the child is

diverted to some irrelevant beauty pageant.

How do you folks feel about Beauty pageants???

Proverbs 31:30 "charm is deceitful and beauty is vain". Hummmm

I probably should ignore this OP. James, are you trashing the US education system also in addition to pageants? It isn't perfect, but it is very good in many ways and it certainly isn't in the toilet.

Uninformed opinions stated as certitudes and platitudes. Nothing better to do tonight JM?

'Irrelevant' beauty pageants? Irrelevant to you or everyone?

Are you the final arbiter on all things or just our education system and pageants?

Yes Beauty Padgeants are a Distraction, But, I have heard some blunders in announcements, such as, Brothers Pierre, and Mendez are now appointed as Elders....Whoops...Sorry ..er..wrong names,,,that was no appointments this time.

im not sure i understand exactly what the op is hoping to hear, but,

please DJS lol, have you watched those pageants?

explain to us the benefits of a show, with mostly white women, answering the most ridiculous random often pointless questions, with a pathetically short amount of time allotted, in a most a desperately hurried way , to win an award, for strutting around in sexy clothing..... oh wait, men like it. lol

you know its almost and insult to women. what goes on behind the scenes is almost comical.

and as for our education system? well it speaks for itself.

And omg, since when are shows like Toddlers in Tiaras anything less than a show for those sick pedefile bast@#$'s sitting at home watching baby girls with makeup on and sexy clothing? sick sick sick,

those parents have issues for sure.

If a mother sent her child to school dressed like that she would be arrested, and probably have her kid taken from her, yet somehow its allowed on cable tv... hmmm nothing more than gross entertainment for brain dead people.

DJS I have grand kids and it's scary when you look at our education system.

Lets see, 80 % of high school students graduate from HS, yet 1/2 of those

students are not ready for the next level. Fewer than 40 % graduating seniors have

mastered basic reading and math. It may no be in the toilet but it is ready for a flush if

    we don't do something.

"Are you final arbiter on all things or just our education system"? Did you notice I ask" how

do you folks feel about BP. If there is a topic I don't like I ignore it, very simple.

    LOL!

I guess you didn't know ----------- every DC is a beauty pageant! It's planned for months .. the outfits are bought / sewn, planned for every day. Stock is taken.

It's kinda sad, the way JW gurls are pitted against each other for looks, even more than in regular western society. In the 'world', you can be an artist, a geek, a punk, or whatever, and find your niche. In the JWS, you have to be pretty, and 'spiritual', oh, and yes, if you want to snag the good-looking guy that comes from money and his father is an elder, fashion-forward. Ugh, glad I rejected that culture. xx

James Mixon: "Steve Harvey will never be the host of another beauty pageant. LOL perhaps contrary, there is no such thing as bad publicity in Hollywood/Vegas.

Ladies on display? search for the most vivacious, with the right answers, (yes Sir)? the search for Esther, Abishag, Snow white ? Some frustrated men might watch it, in this family and friends it is a lady thing.

As long as sick pedophiles only view, sad that parents looking for fame frame their offspring. The fashion industry is admonished to keep the 13 year old looking bodies off the walkway. photoshopping the juveniles. fat chance. finally,: wt: what imperfection?

education? an evening with Hawking anyone?

Thanks GOD JW's don't have Beauty Pageants

but they do, mini-displays, watch the show at all assemblies ---edit: Talesin beat me to it. the two witness rule.

I think that the proliferation of CHILDREN, dressed up in Mae West-type makeup and hair, is deplorable.

Little girls are not meant to be held by such rigorous standards of behaviour for ANY reason. That's not even taking into account the 'pedophile connection'.

Think, for a moment, of the movie "Stand by Me". You know, it's about the boys going in search of a body (and yes, the short story was called "The Body" by the master, Steven King).

Umm, when I was growing up, in the 60s, girls did this stuff too! We were what was referred to as "Tom boys" .... and it was the norm! Some girls were into girly-things, some not, and some --- (SHOCK AND AWE) were in-between!

It sickens me to see a 5, 9, or 14 YO tarted-up with make-up, and made to perform - and no, not the 'fun' kind of dress-up, but rigorous training, painful hair treatments, etc. is extremely twisted. Let them be a child! Stop watching them on TV because it fascinates you --- instead, write a letter to the producers.

    That's all. xx

At the Regional Conventions, you wonder if it's a mini-beauty pageant.

If you watch an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras you will learn everything you need to about child beauty pageants, and yes, they are horrid. These parents will spend huge sums of money on costumes and entry fees so that their little darlings can compete in pageants. The parents are obviously living vicariously through the accomplishments of their children and are overly dependent on their child winning. The mothers will do anything so that their child can win, they give the girls spray tans, fake teeth, fake hair, fake eyelashes and costumes costing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Many of the girls act like spoiled brats, they know their mother will let them do anything as long as they perform. Pretty jealousies and fueds are common among the mothers, and some of them have a melt down if their child doesn't do as well as they hoped. Some of these parents are barely making ends meet, but will spend enough money to have put their child through college, in the end all they have to show for it is a room full of trophies and Tiaras.

I would love to see a follow-up in ten years to see how these girls end up.
