It can't be the same. For blood transfusions a person needs a very specific blood type. If it's not compatible the person would die. He could eat any blood without this adverse affect.

Actually, the blood/alcohol analogy is correct as far as consuming any substance by needle or by mouth. There's nothing you can say against that specific argument. The only argument against the blood transfusion issue in general, as Saintbertholdt mentioned, is that the blood was only disposed of if the animal was killed for food. If the creature, animal or human, was not killed then it would not apply and blood could be drunk or transfused.

I'm not too comfortable with that argument but it's the only one that may help. A smart JW, however, might counter that argument by asking if it's right to drink human blood even if the person contributing it did not die.

You have to keep in mind that some doctrines in the Bible simply cannot be argued against without arguing against the Bible itself.

    That's just plain ole stupid.

    Here's a substance: potable water

If you drink potable water it hydrates your tissue, which is a good thing. If you transfuse potable water it kills you, which is a bad thing.

    Here's another substance: alcohol

Doctors who've advised a patient to abstain from alcohol do not abstaining from transfusing alcohol to the same patient if the administration protects the patient from death.

Works the same way with other things too Marvin. Insulin for example taken by needle it reduces blood glucose levels swallowed or otherwise taken internally does nothing.

There are sensibly honest allegories and nonsensical deceptive allegories.

JWS are instructed to be receptive to the statements made through mind controlling indoctrination,

Jws eat whatever supports the doctrines without analytical or critical thinking to what is being said.

Agreeing is being faithfully devoted to the higher spiritually directed beings.

If your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be OK to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?

If a religious doctrine would have us abstain from transfusion of fresh frozen plasma would it be OK to let cryosupernatant and cryoprecipitate be injected into our veins?

Heaven - "You do not circulate alcohol in your circulatory system to stay alive."

Hell, I'm pretty sure that if you injected alcohol into your bloodstream it'd f**king kill you.

breakfast of champions - "Hearing it now make me want to reach for a drink."

    Well, let's be honest.

You could say that about practically any WT policy. :smirk:

It is also notable that even if you are referring to eating or not eating blood in biblical times, the bible clearly shows that the apostles were only against it if it made a Jew stumble. Such also included unclean animals, even if Acts 15 does not literally state it. There are plenty of bible verses where people are encouraged to eat whatever they pleased as long as they were not stumbling others. Stumbling would come along if it went against a deeply rooted believe. For example, if you are a JW and you move to India, it could be wise for you not to eat beef. Now if no one say you or no one could witness you doing it, then there is no problem. There is a difference between a deeply rooted belief and a flawed analogy used to prevent a massive inflow of lawsuits.
