I think this deserves it's own thread, so as not to get mixed-up

TL;DR - go to the bar charts at the end...

    Picking up on jambon1's comments:

The one in the OP - Livingston, was a merge to the newly built assembly hall in the same area. I think three Congs share that building now.

Nice wee scoop up of the cash from the sale of Livingston and Whitburn. Having said that, these aren't desirable areas and they'll not sell for very much money. Also, they've probably spent a great deal on the new assembly hall. One wonders how that cash was raised.

Yes, a new Kingdom Hall was recently built on a green field site now called 'Eliburn Campus' in Livingstone, to the west of Edinburgh (it's not showing up yet on Google Earth or StreetView)

    It's a three-in-one multi-auditorium used by three congregations with occasional assemblies/special events

Livingston, Deans Congregation at Thursday at 7.00pm and Sunday at 10.30am
Livingston, Dedridge Congregation at Thursday at 7.00pm and Sunday at 10.30am
Whitburn Congregation at Thursday at 7.00pm and Sunday at 10.30am

    The Master Plan

    The Floor Plan

    Now let's talk money....

Been to those halls many times...elders are weird...kids are out of control yet are MS etc cause they get away with everything.

Hated them...everything is about money, possessions etc to them.

Witnesses in the area are hyper-materialistic.

I still don't understand where the money came from for the assembly hall. I get the impression the local congs have subscribed to pay certain amounts regularly?

What am I missing here? Why it's such a big deal when they build a new KH or sell an old one?

Looking at the bar charts, even allowing for one of the congregations doing the operating expenses, the income/expenses for the three congregtions are fascinatingly contrasting in a multi-million pound way....

According to what Scottish J.W.'s told me, every congregation in Scotland was "taxed" on a per publisher basis as a "contribution" to help pay for the construction of the Kingdom Hall Complex in Livingston.

If I remember correctly the levy imposed was between £6-8 per publisher, but I can't verify that.

I was initially under the impression that it was an actual Assembly Hall - but it's not.

Cool - so Livingston Deans would have been the 'holding' congregation that lead the project, which explains the 2014 income from the suggested per-publisher donations, though it is interesting that the income in 2012 and 2013 was also substantial.

Presumably the 2016 accounts, when submitted, will show the expenses for actually building the complex.

Dedridge and Whitburn's income and expenses can probably be explained by local fund-raising for new KH, with monies sent over to central fund held by the Deans Congregation.

It makes sense for Scotland to have a relatively centrally located multi-auditorium kingdom hall that can hold small assemblies - the documentation mentions a maximum expected attendance for assemblies here being 800 people - and as they're all one-day assemblies now they can be held on a Saturday and not interfere with the local congregation meetings on a Sunday.

And this is different from most JW congregations how, exactly...? :smirk:

It is an assembly hall as well as a multi cong kingdom hall complex.
