    G'day,

Owyergoin? Orright? Me? I'm trying to remain cheerful but I'm feeling really crook (that's "sick", to you foreigners!). I've had a fever with a very high temperature and now seem to have the flu, feeling hot, and have a barking cough. Apart from that, this weekend's great! We were going to travel to visit with Bliss but were unable to travel. The good news is that Prisca called in and she and Mrs Ozzie have had a real good chat. Ain't that nice!

So, how are you feeling for a little weekend poll? I asked the girls and they shared in this one, so take a few minutes to relax, reminisce and maybe smile (or groan!).

    This weekend's poll question is:

In your Hall, where did the DF sit?

    1. In the lobby.
    2. In the back row.
    3. In the front row.
    4. In the library.
    5. At home via phone link.
    6. In the car park.
    7. Not allowed to attend!
    8. Other – could there be anything else! (Please detail)

Looking forward to reading your replies, and don't forget: Enjoy!

    Cheers, Ozzie

Our's always sat at the back or in the overflow (library with glass panel tothe main hall)

If I went I'd like to sit in the middle and sing the song very loudly and very badly with alternate lyrics

Hey Ozzie - what I remember was that many DF'd persons sat at the very back of the Kingdom Hall. Occasionally, they'd sit at the side, but of course, near the back.

The last time I went, to meet with the elders, that's where I went too. This was about 19 years ago.

It depended on when they got there and if they had close family members to sit with. DF'd young people sat with their families. DF'd spouses sat with their spouses. Why should the young person's family or the non-DF'd spouse be punished? They sat where most JWs preferred to sit, 5 rows back from the front. The back rows are so preferred that they are roped off and saved for families with small, unruly children and latecomers (sometimes DF'd people). There never has been a reserved section or area for DF'd people where I have attended for the last 47 years, 15 congregations, 3 countries, 8 states.

Many DF'd people come late so not to have the numbing experience of no one talking to them. Come just as it starts, and leave just after the last word of the prayer. It figures then they sit in the back (or the front on occasion since no good JW sits there).

In all the time I was a JW, no DF persons attended the meeting but once. She was a girl and sat in the back, she came maybe one time during the meeting, and once with the memorial. The only other time I knew of a DF person sitting through a meeting was myself, once, for the funeral of my grandma, and I sat front row. F*** them anyway.

Usually at the back, from what I remember, but if it was a teenager they often sat with their family.

I remember a lady who I had never seen before popping into a book study that I attended (at the KH). She didn't offer any comments during the meeting, and quickly made for the door after the meeting concluded. I said "hi" to her, all she did was avoid my eyes and said very quietly, "I'm disfellowshipped" and hurried out. Ugh, the memory of it makes me sick.

They always came in after the song started and sat in the back row.

I recently heard about a couple who were about to be DA'd that came early, dressed inappropriately and sat in the fourth row refusing to stand for the song or prayer. Then they left early with great big smiles, taking pictures on their way out. Such arrogance!

Hope you are feeling better soon Ozzie. Steve is down this weekend too.

Sounds like I could be friends with those people.

I sat in the middle towards the front. I was kind of anal and when they asked us to move around the hall to sit in different places each week I did. Then I got my ass chewed out for sitting in certain peoples traditional spots. Oh well.
