NotFormer - “…Genuinely loosening the reins wouldn't cost them too much…”

    Unless…

    …it would.

One of Covid’s more surprising takeaways was just how many used the break to fade… or rather, just how many PIMOs there actually were…

and I’ve lost count of how often I’ve heard XJWs theorize that if the Org dropped shunning, the resulting exodus would cripple them.

Maybe there’s more to those theories than we thought.

DesirousOfChange- “…Most diehard JWs will follow tradition and shun dissenters…”

    Sure, they would…

…but really, just how many diehards are actually left? And just how many left are actual diehards?

If we underestimated the number of PIMOs, it follows that we may be overestimating the number of PIMIs.

And I’m willing to bet that the Org’s higher-ups have considered this, too.

"Being “ removed “ actually sounds worse. It is like they have a mob hitman on stand by ready to kill you."

Sort of like "dealt with" and other mob-like euphemisms.

"Marking" as a term gives me bad vibes. It reminds me of "pointing the bone":

The old-school JWs will toe the line & continue with shunning dissenters.

    Same outcome.

But,,with all the pimos out there,,the Borg has to be careful what they say & do.

    They must consider this.,too.

On Reddit a lot of reactions from those who experienced a comité and got DF.

The paradigma shift from Elders who act like communist judges to a softer aproach and a new name for the proces (removing) in a footnote of the magazine, is still hurting a lot of people.

You can't take a way the pain of victims and bystanders using a footnote!

So happy to have left this sect with my wife and 2 children. Better then ever!

Assuming the GB knows what its doing, I wonder what their change management plan looks like for the next decade.

Will they slowly chip away and remove shunning altogether?

Do they pander to the type of people they want as JW's and continue shunning, knowing its what makes them different and special, and knowing many JW's like the idea of 'keeping the congregation clean?"

Are they prepared to accept a certain level of lost membership as long as they have complete control over the ones left?

    Growth or control?

As an aside: I know there was some speculative posts from a guy claiming that WT HQ had hired some outside consulting firm, and that they had a "10 Year Plan" that they were going to start implementing.

Honestly, with all of these changes........that scenario no longer sounds to far-fetched, especially with the recent summer Convention venue photos being leaked out. The places are nearly empty!

I've heard reports from Accounting Depts (that collect that money and tally it) that not only attendance, but donations are down a staggering 30% or more! That is a HUGE hit in the pocketbook for WT HQ. This, even though they've deleted a lot of sacred rented venues, and gone to using existing Assembly Halls. Case in Point: Reading, PA. Eliminated! Now send those people to the old Grantville Assembly Hall, which of course is long since paid off. (built in 1972 as a recall) Of course, I'm sure the negative press from the ex-JW protestors outside the building (which caught local news attention due to the CSA cases in PA) didn't help! Or rather, it did! People saw the signage, saw the local news reports, and then let their fingers do the walking onto Google.

Wonder what else the "10 Year Plan" will bring forth? One things for certain, the previous 10 years.....since say, 2014.....have been damn interesting. That's about when JW Broadcasting premiered. How's the dumbass televangelism working out for ya, WT HQ? lol

For a long while there, I was convinced that not only were they prepared, they wanted the faders, fakers, and fence-sitters to fuck off.

Then Covid happened, and clued us all in to just how many there might actually be.

    😏

    yeah, or this...

i was "marked" at one point in the WT KH

it had nothing to do with being "immoral" or what they say in their publications

i was "marked" for exposing stuff the wt hierarchy was doing

"the first rule of fight club"

once you know what goes on, you can't "get out" without "consequences"

And this is the case now. Instead of a genuine backing away from harsh and unkind rules, they are only lessening them in the minimum sense that they think can persuade governments that they have changed.

Wednesday meeting of GB: What else do these effing politicians expect? It's not like apostates and persistent sinners and exJWs are being burned at the stake like the Church tradition centuries ago!
