Any Kiwis post here? Now that that silly "Yanks versus Poms" thread has pretty well exhausted itself, how about an Oz v NZ thread?

Scoring could be difficult. Example -

Kiwi: Rutherford, who first split the atom, came from NZ; NZ 1 Oz 0

Aussie: NZ is a Nuclear Free Zone! NZ 0 Oz 0

Aussie: But Oz has a small nuclear reactor which produces medical nukes, which we export to "Nuclear Free" NZ NZ 0 Oz 1

Aussie: We invented the Pavlova NZ 0 Oz 2

Kiwi: Bullshit! We did! NZ 0 Oz 1

Aussie: Even if you did (which you didn't!), we invented the Lamington! NZ 0 Oz 2

Any additions to this thread? :)

    What's wrong with Lucy Lawless?

With some sections of the BDSM community, Nothing, I guess! :)

An American conquers the moon and says "One small step for man, etc"

A Kiwi conquers Mt Everest and says "Christ! We knocked it over!!"

    G'day Stephanus,

I'd join in with asides about australian inventions and world firsts like stump-jump ploughs, gene-splicing, penecilin, aussie rules and the like vs wide shearing combs, rugby, the worlds roughest reds and country towns "closed for the winter" but I actually like New Zealand (I can't help it if, like my home state of South Australia, you guys have a "cinderella/ugly sister complex"

Have you no shame trying to start a cross-Tasman shitfight on Anzac day!

unclebruce, enjoying a Cappicino (in the bush even)

PS: Half of New Zealand now lives in Australia - funny that :)

PSS: Some genuine questions for Kiwis: Order a "screwdriver" in a pub and do they still serve you Vodka with orange cordial? Order a Cappicino and do they look at you like you're from Mars? Is there a McDonalds there yet? (you can't win with that no matter which way you answer :) Is "sex sex sex" really the number of the beast?

...and the Hurricanes just beat the Warratahs! 42 - 17

P.S Seriously though, I have no gripes with Australia (apart from Kylie). I may end up living there myself one day!

Psst .... Shalom ... listen carefully... I'm only going to say this once ... "Real men play Aussie rules!"

    unclebruce

PS: I admit enjoying the buttock parting boofhead, State of Origin grudge matches between the cockroaches and canetoads when in Sydney (about as far south and west as rugby dare go - Canberra doesn't count and only Queensland could have a King called Wally ;) A Warratah is obviously NSW but the only Hurricane I've heard of is the American boxer Rubin Carter (of Bob Dylan fame) Go the fluffy Koalas!

PSS: My sister in law comes from Motueka - Plymouth Bretherin country What's that South Island town with 400 Plymouth bretherin makin' Urwin saw blades? (only NZ could have towns full of Plymouth Bretherin

PSSS: How many TV stations there now? The wife and I toured in 1986 and there were only two - Mens rugby on one channel, womens on the other and as for Kylie Minogue - you should be so lucky we transported her to England with Rolf Harrass and Dame Edna.

UB: Have you no shame trying to start a cross-Tasman shitfight on Anzac day!

Can you think of any better day?? ;) Anyway, I started it on the 26th.

PS: Half of New Zealand now lives in Australia - funny that :)

Actually there is a small amount of truth to this exaggeration. NZ politics is a hobby of mine(!); I was in Auckland for an election night party last time I was there. It seems the Greens Party had done more campaigning in Sydney than in all of NZ (they had Bobby Brown's help!) - Sydney is actually NZ's largest electorate with 300,000 Kiwis resident

Is there a McDonalds there yet?

Yes, and they have something called a KiwiBurger. No, no fluffy flightless bird on it; it's actually just a McOz with a fried egg added.

From your anecdotes UB, I gather it's been some time since you were there; Roger Douglas and crew have swept through the [place and brought it screaming and kicking into the 1950s since then! :)

Shalom: Seriously though, I have no gripes with Australia (apart from Kylie). I may end up living there myself one day!

Your OE? In all seriousness, your political masters are starting to get worried about the Brain Drain. Well the opposition politicians, anyway! :)
