  Fearmongering or scaremongering is the spreading of frightening and exaggerated rumors of impending danger or the habit or tactic of purposely and needlessly arousing public fear about an issue.

  
  

  When I was a teen in 1973, my first congregation ''book study'' was ''The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah.'' The book was rather bizarre.... mostly made up fearmongering and exaggerations taken from the book of Ezekiel. The book was about flaming swords, riding chariots, death, birds eating all the dead, the burial of all the bones after Armageddon, and the attack from United Nations against the ''true'' religion, Jehovah's Witnesses.

  That was a really frightening read. I told myself, ''I better get baptized or I'll be one of the dead when Armageddon arrives.''

  Forty-five later, not one thing has ever come true from this book or any other material ever written by the WTBTS.

  Is ''fearmongering'' the greatest ploy the Watchtower Society use against its members and newly converted?

  I believe it is. I was watching a recent video on the John Cedars YouTube channel, and it made total sense why my father-in-law was in panic mode when I was sitting next to him a couple of months back. In the video, he showed where Tony Morris was actually saying if a JW and any dealings with a DF one, or in my case DA, they will be killed at Armageddon. Not once did he talk to me, or allowed me to talk, because the @$$ kept talking over me.

  Thank you for the video!

  Tony Morris looks very nervous, has shaky hands, looks lost, and doesn't look confident in what he is saying. I think Mr. Anthony Morris is just going through the motions. He knows that Armageddon is never going to happen. Living out the rest of his life in Warwick, New York headquarters is the only thing that is truly going to happen.

  There's one point that I disagree with Lloyd on, and that's the idea that Tony Morris actually believes in this religion. While there may be other members of the governing body who truly believe what they teach, Tony absolutely does not strike me as one of those people. In his case it seems to be the exact opposite. That man knows EXACTLY what he is doing. Why else would he stand in front of thousands talking about how Armageddon will be like the Vietnam war, with humans "blackened and splitting open"? He comes across as a bully, a manipulator, a control freak, and a narcissist who wants to scare the living daylights out of anyone who will let him.

  I call that the carrot and stick policy. Stick--Armaggedon, carrot--everlasting life on a paradise earth.

  The Governing Body prefers to attract people with the promise of paradise, but if that fails, there's always threats of a violent death at Armageddon to fall back on. They should go to jail for making death threats to their followers, that's what Armageddon is. Tony even claimed recently that he and the other Governing Body members would charge into battle with Jesus, so he's even telling the faithful, I myself will kill some of you, soon, if you don't obey me.

  "Within the 20th century".

  What happened to that? The year 2001, that's what--and when 2001 dawned, that part of the statement was proven a lie. Even if you use 2000, some might argue that it is still part of the 20th century, but using 2001 eliminates even that. And, when it fails, they keep inventing new dates and time lines. What's next, 2034? As with someone that kept posting that 2011 was going to bring the final end and 2012 happened to this person (proving the whole thing wrong), when 2035 comes, we will definitely know that, as with the 20th century lie, that 2035 was also a lie.

  At least no one tried to update the 2011 lie.

  The definition of insanity as applied to Jehovah`s Witnesses ,

  "saying the same thing over and over and over again and not getting any results " with regard to Armageddon and the great tribulation .

  I mean to say how many times since Russell came on the scene with his Watchtower and his predictions and all of his successors since have they predicted the big "A" and the "GT" ?

  I have lost count .

  And sadly to say what does that say about the mentality of all those who still follow the Governing Body leading this religion ?

  There are quite a few JW that would stay in even if they knew it was a lie, both my mother and mother-in-law said those exact words about themselves. All I can reply that it is their loss, not mine.
