This from the official site:
Fathers also need to concern themselves with the spirituality of their children. Paul wrote: "You, fathers, do not be irritating your children, but go on bringing them up in the discipline and mental-regulating of Jehovah." (Ephesians 6:4) When parents heed the admonition not to irritate their children, as well as the direction to train them, the children feel that they are part of
Just ignoring the yukky "mental regulating" bit for a moment. This is the first time that I have ever seen the society put this gentler understanding on "Irritating your children". In the past, the meaning was explained as referring to "fathers who did not take their children to meetings or in the field service, thereby irritating them".
Now I never could understand how a child could be irritated by not being made to do witnessy things, I would have thought that being made to do these things would have been far more irritating than not doing them.
That's just one example of "spin" that can be found on the JW web-site at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/
I suggest that the official site is there purely for the benefit of the media and "persons of goodwill" and bears no relation whatsoever to the hard-line stuff that is enacted by readers of the Kingdom Ministry and the Watchtower.
In short, the site is blatantly dishonest IMHO. What I would really love to see is some of the site's soft soap stuff posted next to the appropriate material in the official publications.
Anyone up for a few comparisons?
