The war has been going on for sometime if anyone has actually been following along what has been going on in Iraq ....

    But today ....

MSNBC reporting that Ari Fleischer has lidded his daily press gaggle, and that the President has cancelled some speech or meeting about health care he was supposed to have this afternoon.

I don't know .... just don't know. I think I am just still a few days ahead of this major event. But it is odd that this has happened.

Whether you are for or against this major battle in this war (or like me who worries over the "end game" in a post-war Iraq) ... I think the time has come to stop ... and support the troops who are willing to give their lives for our freedom.

You are right about the on-going air strikes. The US is up to about 750 missions per day... two to three times greater than normal. The rules of engagement have also changed. The aircraft don't have to be "painted" by anti-aircraft radar to justify an attack. They are now going around destroying mobile missile sites.

When the US gives warning to UN inspectors to evacuate Iraq, that is how we will know the war is starting.

I don't think so. The UN inspectors are still there, and have not been told to evacuate. That I think will be the signal that war is within hours.

I have heard the date March l7 in the media as a date for ground troops to begin their assault. Of course, an air attack is probably going to be used first, so I suspect next week is a good call on the bombs to start dropping leading the way for the troops.

My heart goes out to all the innocent men, women, and children who will be under those falling bombs, those that are on target, and those that fall short.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush will hold a news conference Thursday night to talk about Iraq and the ongoing war on terrorism, according to White House spokesman Ari Fleischer.

Bush will not use the occasion to announce a war against Iraq, Fleischer said, adding that the president still has not decided whether the United States will go to war.

The news conference is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. EST.

I think it won't start before 2 more weeks. Everything is in place for the war to start.

I heard on Good Morning America that there are some things happening even now. It is the reason all the reporters have to leave immediately. Charlie Gibson is in Kuwait, about to leave for New York. They feel it will start this weekend.

March 13-15 is probably a good day not to be anyplace around Baghdad. No inside info, just a guess.

Even Bush has to see the irony of starting this on the Ides of March. I am still thinking it will start March 30 to April 1. US likes to attack at night, and a New Moon is optimal.

I have a friend that lives in Kuwait (civilian), but she is hard to get in contact with. If she mentions anything first, I will try to share it.

    Interesting.

March 17, or, 18th, more specifically, would have to be the absolutely WORST possible date to start a night attack. It's a full moon. Ever seen a full moon in the desert? Might as well be mid-day.....

(In any case, I certainly hope the attack isn't timed so as to cause unusually high US casualties...although it would boost the fear of the enemy the masses have back home, giving the government more opportunity to seize greater control. Even *I* don't think they'd stoop that low, though.)

Since the 2nd came and went with no more, I'm going to adjust guess to the next New Moon - April 1.
