Is the WT SLOW-ly Changing the importance of the Door to Door preaching work to something more profitable?

Imho it would be no different that when the bookstudy as a separate meeting night was cancelled. Most dubs were very happy that they had another free night... If the dubs were relieved of the door to door work they'd be happy to comply.

I agree Listener, if I was still in and this change took place, I would celebrate and I wouldn't mind giving a few bucks$$$$ instead of going door to door.

Hey, isn't this how the other religions evolved??

Totally agree that if they discontinued door to door or even stopped with the time slips, most JWs would be dancing in the streets. No question there are very few people that actually like doing it.

If they give up the door to door work shunning will be next, trust me.. To

much time on their hands to get into trouble, to much time to think for the RF...

How many street carts can you set up in a small city, weekends you may see

three our four set up in Pasadena Ca. I believe they will have a problem if

carts are set up in every block, so how will they get their time for the month.

Cirgactly - wtbt$ is just another (young ish) religon and it's gradually loosing its homey egalitarian small town innocence and evolving into just another hypocritical religo-business with big bucks, a checkered history, skeletons-in-the-closet, power politics, a large legal team ready to pounce and the true mark of an establishment religon. - it's own nasty brand of intractable institutionalized child abuse (problem ).

    A. Are thousands of people really asking for Bible studies?

I seriously doubt it. Why would a website (that people have to seek out on their own initiative) be more effective than the personal approach? There is no good reason.

I'm calling bullshit on this one.

    B. Are The JW Carts more effective?

Puh-leeze! Of course this is anecdotal, but I've seen those carts a half dozen times in various locations throughout SoCal. In a couple of places I was able to observe their activity for an hour or so because I was nearby for an appointment (once at the DMV) and only one time did anyone approach the cart.

The one time, a woman who was obviously bored waiting for her turn at the DMV walked over, picked up a book, looked at if for 10 - 15 seconds and immediately put it back. The JW manning the cart made no attempt to talk to her, nor did the woman talk to the JW.

Another time, I saw a cart at a busy train station in Santa Barbara. Hundreds of people were walking by the cart and the table the "brothers" had set up. All of the people walking by avoided the Witnesses by a very wide berth.

I'm calling bullshit on this one too!

    C. Is construction and sale of Real Estate and Donations going to supersede the door to door work?

I actually think this one is very likely true.

The WTBTS has a winning model:

    1. Buy a dilapidated property (using donated funds ostensibly for the World Wide Work),
    2. Improve it with free, volunteer labor and largely donated materials,
    3. Wait until the time is right,
    4. Flip it.
    5. Lather, rinse and repeat

    -

Continue to beat the friends to donate more with "stealth tithing," and constant guilt-tripping.

    Let's review: It's a cult!

Can you believe what will happen if they stop doing this D2D the amount of literature that is needed will drop significantly which means less people at bethel. They will start outing the oldies for the young web designers. That is so sad, it must be very scary for the older ones especially now they have been told about the new generation change`s, they will die before the end. They will be the ones sitting manning the carts or sitting in care homes. I don't know which is worse.

Carts are the key to solving the "generational" issue (aka old people). Carts allow them to just sit and wait, while counting time. The reality is that most large cities have for years had witnesses at various stops for approach work, but this is much easier for a senior to do. Its really just busy work. I've had to pleasure of watching several carts for the past year, and the success is minimal at best. I'd argue the workers are more disheartened as the likelihood of bad apostates talking to them is greater. But the vast majority appear to just enjoy sitting in a chair (or motorized chair). This is really nothing new, its just that they added a cart, and you can just sit on your arse and do nothing.

In the circuit I was with, we got 2 bible study requests since JW.borg has been active, a sizeable circuit at that. Still if you did the math and said 1,000's then its still a very small number considering the publicity.

I watch the analytics on the website and its pretty flat. Really with about 800,000 page views daily and 8,000,000 witnesses its actually pretty bad. I like one site that says the traffic is worth about 1.7 million dollars. http://www.freewebsitereport.org/www.jw.org

The real question I have is if the risk of lawsuits is greater for door to door or from the carts?

I know of someone that requested a study on their website and never heard from anyone. Also getting rid of door to door work would make it easier for them to retain kids and attract new ones that would never sign up because they don't want to do it.

A very firm statement was made at the 2014 RC (International). The speaker stated...

"The mormon church has stated that the new field of preaching to reach more people is social media. JWs understand that when an emergency arises (Armageddon) the authorities go door to door making sure every single citizen gets a chance to leave. JWs will NEVER... EVER, replace our door to door ministry. Much less with social media"

We know these guys have a fame for eating their own foot.
