Dear Hoodwinked: You learned way sooner than me to watch what they DO and don't listen to what they SAY. Welcome. Soon you too will be free, matey. Maverick

Welcome Hoody.....Rhymes with Woody...and you have a crush on SYN ? Is that the reason for the soiled undies ? Whoops !
Hey SYN you OK with that ?
Hood. I'd like to know what prompted you to get baptised? Surely you must have had doubts before you took the plunge, seeing you have been lurking here so shortly afterwards ? Pray Tell ?

Hi Hoodwinked,
I never had the feeling of not being one of the inner group, I was always there. My dad was the head honcho in the congregation untill he died when I was 18. I progressed to head honcho in a new congregation we formed in another town near by. I had never thought about the attitude toward the ones who weren't part of the more active publishers until I read some of the posters feelings. I can remember the feelings I had toward those, it's part of the borg culture. I was raised in it from my birth so it was an attitude I inherited. You are not really aware that you act that way. I've been faded for over 20 years now. I hope I didn't make too many feel unwanted.
I won't make you feel that way here. Welcome.

Obviously you aren't the only one feeling a bit gullible right now. These people have a way of shutting down the brain, ours and their own. Welcome to the board, looking forware to more from you. Bug

Welcome to the board! I think "the borg" is a very appropriate label too.
I can't say they were all cold, some were very warm and friendly to me but to my amazement it was the so-called "sprirtually weak" ones who showed the most christian love
I agree with that. Most of the people I grew closest to were the ones considered "spiritually weak" because they were the ones who were the friendliest toward me. Now that I think about it, at times I even felt a measure of disapproval from the "strong" ones because of my association with some of those people. I'm not sure why, since one of my friends who wasn't very good in the "time" department even got in her "quota" a couple of months because I was auxillary pioneering and she would go out with me sometimes. (I wasn't in the pioneer clique, and they already had their little groups arranged most of the time).
One of them even tried to talk to me after I told the elders that I didn't want anything to do with them anymore. I kinda blew her off at the time because I didn't have all the info I have now, and didn't want her to get in trouble or "poison" her mind. I was sure about my stand, but I still wasn't quite ready to totally write the WTS off as the insidious cult that it is.
I hope the "weak" friends I had finally came to their senses and split.
Anyhoo, stick around and enjoy the education!

Welcome to the board, Hoodwinked! I like your avatar -- "The Simpsons" is a favorite at our house too. You'll find a lot of compadres here. And we all feel betrayed to one extent or another.
Hugs,
Nina

Uh, *cough cough*. Thanks for the compliments, but I'm actually a guy didn't mean to dissappoint! And welcome!
I do seem to recall some controversy on that issue a while back, though...

Hello Hoodwinked, and welcome to the forum.
Wow...what a neat story, and what a great way to introduce yourself.
I'm happy that you have been lurking; one wants to be sure, but it becomes obvious what the general theme and nature of this forum is. It's like a family after you participate, and it is made up of all different kinds of people.
A sense of humour does one well here. It's also a place where people can express their disappointments, concerns, doctrine debates and other topics without the scrutiny of the elders. Well...we do have 'elders' here, but of a different type. These are the ones who let you get away with 'naughty' deeds and encourage you to pursue them.
Like yourself, there are many on here whom have family in the Borg, so of course, you have your reasons to be careful and approach things the way that you are doing. Good idea.
Glad you are here, and I hope this won't be the last we hear of you.
Your post was wonderful, and made my first morning coffee...that much more enjoyable.
