"...like bees that were molested" is one example of the cringe that I felt when singing some of the songs. If you knew the composer of these songs, you would understand why they were so odd. Some of us felt that we needed some professional song writers (non-JWs) who could provide the framework for a polished, motivating music program. -

A new songbook originally came out because many of those songs had songs lifted from other religious sources (I thing date was 1928, no I was not alive then but I had a copy of it from my grandmother. Some songs no longer agreed with current WTS teachings. The songs were stilted. The music was simpler. Many songs were composed by jws who composing skills were questionable. I was the piano player for many years at the Kingdom Hall, played at weddings until the discl type came, then cassettes...But it was hard to get the wedding party to go down the aisle trying to time their steps to the canned music. I was called into play the piano at those weddings many times. I find that too many jws have had little experience in a personal setting, or sang the songs more than at the meetings. I am sure many of the above reasons why they need more and edited songs. I do have musical training on piano, organ, and guitar. Love, Blondie

Remember the service group in the van with "mood" music interfering with conversation?
There are still people who refuse to believe the flame song in the convention was taken from a rock band, especially when you show them the (obviously demonized) album cover.

You want to know what’s really weird?
Not only is the October s-147 form not posted yet….but the s-147s for July, August, and September have been removed from the jw hub.
They post the s-147 forms under a single heading, then have multiple files under the heading. They do them for 6 months at a time.
There’s headings for “January to June 2024”, “July to December 2023”, etc. but the one for “July to December 2024”, which was there a few weeks ago and held the announcement sheets previously posted for July, August, and September has been deleted.
I don’t ever recall them (a) not posting the s-147 so late and (b) removing the immediately previous forms.
It’s very strange. There doesn’t seem to have been anything “earth-shattering” at the meeting, so why pull old announcements and not post the new ones?
