Really Watchtower? Jephthah's daughter as an example of what a girl wants to BE when she grows up??

    A BURNT OFFERING?!!

Great video on Watchtower pressurizing single folks to remain that way in order to serve the organization God more fully.....aaaand they use Jephthah's daughter as their shining example of what it means to be single😂

This guy is really funny, has a lovely neutral tone and makes well researched, incisive points. Its not one of the big three issues people tend to have with Watchtower - blood, child abuse and shunning, but Watchtower has subtle pressures they apply to jws to remain single and/or childless to maximize the amount of work snd money they can extract from their adherents. The end result is many lonely and uncared for elderly JW's when they are no longer of use to Watchtower, example - the recent sacking of lots of older Betelites.

I recommend subbing to him. So many fantastic new apostates around!!!

We used to sing about "The greater Jephthah" in one of the old Kingdom songs, but I never figured out who he was.

    Here's the song:

I think it must be Jesus, since hes the only one who "cannot fail".

But youre right, its so funny with their "greater"this and "lesser" that, the "fuller" this and "wider" that!

Do they have a SIZE obsession perchance??😂😂

I would not for the life of me have guessed who the " Greater Jephthah"was without the rest of the lyrics, LoL. The music is so marshal, isnt it? Very Salvation Army, marching music!! Almost military.

Like I mentioned this a number of times before: The GB doesn't give a damn about the status (present and future) about single women in the Borg. They rather see them very sad, lonely and especially depressed, Stepfordly doing everything to make them, their helpers plus those they personally hold dear happy and comfortable (financially, that is!). In fact, IMPO, I bet those 8 old geezers are laughing all the way to the bank about how they are able to subliminally influence a nice amount of single women to be lifetime spinsters, while they themselves are able to marry multiple times while living the life of Riley!!

    DIOGENESISTER:

Yes, I believe Jephtha’s daughter was a human sacrifice and he killed her. The JW religion teaches a sugarcoated version of the story.

    HIDDLESWIFE:

As a single woman I hated the Witness religion and I finally ‘faded’. I always knew if I wanted a decent guy I’d have to look outside. The reason, IMO, that they want unmarried women around is because they want them to do favors. If a woman is married she is less available. Also, they might imagine that an unmarried person of either sex is likely to leave whatever assets they have to them, instead of to other family members.

This Bible story is an example of the deep seated theist view that personal sacrifice is a good thing. Now we understand that the way we've evolved we need constant challenge and novelty because that's the way apes are, we get bored easily.

To translate that into the need to make our lives as hard as possible and give up our happiness for the sake of others or to appease a god is a misunderstanding of what we are.

Yes Xanthippe, just who are these GB idiots trying to fool? Don't they realise that the average JW however zealous, also has a sex drive?

I am getting the impression that the GB now know that the game is up for them but they're still power mad. They know the faithful, like Pavlov's dogs, will respond to their words but to demand that single sisters to remain single is a step too far. Do as we say not do as we do! The GB are out of touch with the real life.

Half banana, wish I could agree with you but ever since Rutherford published 'Children' (which encouraged Witnesses not to have kids) the organization's leadership thinks they can and should tell Witnesses what to do as far as refusing to procreate or marry. And I'm sure it goes back a lot longer than that, probably into Russell's time, I'm just not familiar enough with his writings.

Good point Hiddleswife 👌. No sooner does one loyal wife pass away than they’re on to the next one! Considering they believe they are shortly going to heaven and leaving wife no.2 or 3 behind, it’s seems very selfish.

surely they should be following Paul’s example to “make room for singleness” and focus on spiritual matters rather than getting their end away in the “short time left”😂😂😂😂
