Reuters reported that this bomb would probably be used as a first strike weapon in Iraq. I mile radius is a hell of a precision weapon!
Just look at these questions and see what you think:
1. Q: How much is spent on military budgets a year worldwide?
A: $900 billion
2. Q: How much of this is spent by the US?
A: 50%
3. Q: What percentage of US military spending would ensure the essentials of life to everyone in the world, according to the UN?
A: 10%
4. Q: How long has Iraq had chemical weapons?
A: Since the 1980's
5. Q: Did Iraq develop these weapons on their own?
A: No, the materials and technology were supplied by the US government, along with Britain and private corporations
6. Q: Did the US government condemn the Iraqi use of gas warfare against Iran?
A: NO
7. Q: How many people did Saddam Hussein kill using gas in the Kurdish town of Halabja in 1988?
A: 5,000
8. Q: How many western countries condemned this action at the time?
A: None
9. Q: Are there any proven links between Iraq and the September 11th attacks?
A: NO
10. Q: What is the estimated number of civilian casualties in the Gulf War?
A: 35,000 ( UN figures )
11. Q: How much of Iraq's military capacity did America claim it had destroyed in 1991?
A: 80%
12. Q: How many Iraqis are estimated to have been killed by October 1999 as a result of US sanctions?
A: 1.5 million

The MOAB was not designed to be a precision weapon.
Your figures are a little misleading. Especially #12.
12. Q: How many Iraqis are estimated to have been killed by October 1999 as a result of US sanctions?
A: 1.5 million
Hmmmmm I presume you mean by starvation or lack of medical care. How is it then that Saddam somehow finds money to keep building palaces??
Maybe it should read:
12: Q: How many Iragis are estimated to have been killed by October 1999 as a result of Saddam refusing to feed them so he can build some fancy houses?
A: 1.5 Million
#11 is irrevelant
#6: Niether did France, Germany, Russia or any of the other 'Anti-war' crowd. And I didnt see any protesters marching in the streets either. I guess NO ONE gave a shit.
#4 Irrevelant. Chemical Weapons have been in use since WWI.
#1+#2, so what?? We have the most modern military. Its not the largest (try China). We just have the best equipment.
#3 What percentage of the world wouldnt be in a bad situation in the first place if they didnt have some crappy government??? And since when was it our responsiblilty to feed everyone?? I dont remember anyone sending us food.
The others are not even worth addressing.

All the figures are from the UN.
Over 1.5 million Iraqis have been as a directresult of US sanctions ( 750,000 of them children ) Yes, Saddam Hussein is an Evil man and should be gotten rid of, but the UN cannot implement a regime change in a country because they have an evil dictator. Otherwise they would have to do the same in LIbya, Syria, Iran, N.korea, China etc.
The whole thrust of the US against Iraq is that he is a threat to the world with his WMD.
In 1998 UN inspectors claimed to have destroyed 90% of Iraqs WMD capabilities.
The US Has over 10,000 nuclear warheads and is the only country ever to have used them.
UNSCOM said in 1998 "Iraq had in fact been disarmed to a level unprecedented in modern history."
All i'm trying to point out is that the US has been inconsistant with its stance on Iraq. Donald Rumsfeld went to Iraq on a diplomatic tour AFTER the Iraqis had gassed their own people. Nothing was said at the time.
The Americans are initiating an aggresive war against another nation.
An American General said at the Nurenburg trials after WW2 " Germany is not on trial because it lost the war, but because it STARTED it"

Wherever you got your information from, there seems to be some erroneous statements associated with the MOAB.
It actually means, Massive Ordinance Air burst with Mother Of All Bombs being an unofficial nomenclature given it by some, more as a dig against Saddam's Mother Of All Battles rhetoric.
It was dropped from a C-130 Hercules aircraft, a cargo plane, much smaller than a B-52 and not capable of carrying anything the size of a bus. The C-131 Samaritan aircraft was more a medical passenger plane phased out of military use back in the 1970s.
There is no committed useage of it at this time and is just a possibility it may be used in Iraq, provided more are built and stored up. It does not emit a mushroom cloud and appears to be a larger and more accurate version of the 15,000 lb "Daisy Cutter" bomb also dropped from a C-130 in Vietnam to clear jungles for LZs.
As far as for your claim that it spreads a mist out over a mile diameter then ignites it, I would love to see the tech sheet on that. Since it is an air burst weapon, it would have to remain suspended in mid air for some time as this mysterious mist spread out over that distance before igniting it.
If you still have them, I would appreciate seeing the links that gave you that information and compare it to others.

The US Has over 10,000 nuclear warheads and is the only country ever to have used them........................to end a World War that killed countless MILLIONS.
Your statement makes the generalization that we are out nuking everyone who pisses us off. HARDLY.
Just because we are the only one who HAS used them does in no way mean that we will be the only one to use them in the future.
And in 'Them' lets state for the record that 'Them' means 2 and only 2 20,00Kt fission bombs, not the Multi-Megaton warheads that are available in our current arsinal.Lets not get into the MAD policy that saved Europe and spared Millions of lives.
According to your logic, Stalin (even though he killed 25 Million Soviets) was a better person that Truman because Truman authorized the missions that killed 250,000 people.

From the Truman Presidental Libaray site:
With the advent of the nuclear age, new dilemmas in the art of warfare arose. The war in Europe had concluded in May. The Pacific war would receive full attention from the United States War Department. As late as May 1945, the U.S. was engaged in heavy fighting with the Japanese at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In these most bloody conflicts, the United States had sustained more than 75,000 casualties. These victories insured the United States was within air striking distance of the Japanese mainland. The bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese to initiate United States entrance into the war, just four years before, was still fresh on the minds of many Americans. A feeling of vindication and a desire to end the war strengthened the resolve of the United States to quickly and decisively conclude it. President Harry Truman had many alternatives at his disposal for ending the war: invade the Japanese mainland, hold a demonstration of the destructive power of the atomic bomb for Japanese dignitaries, drop an atomic bomb on selected industrial Japanese cities, bomb and blockade the islands, wait for Soviet entry into the war on August 15, or mediate a compromised peace. Operation Olympia, a full scale landing of United States armed forces, was already planned for Kyushu on November 1, 1945 and a bomb and blockade plan had already been instituted over the Japanese mainland for several months.
The Japanese resolve to fight had been seriously hampered in the preceding months. Their losses at Iwo Jima and Okinawa had been staggering. Their navy had ceased to exist as an effective fighting force and the air corps had been decimated. American B-29's made bombing runs over military targets on the Japanese mainland an integral part of their air campaign. Japan's lack of air power hindered their ability to fight. The imprecision of bombing and the use of devastating city bombing in Europe eventually swayed United States Pacific theater military leaders to authorize bombing of Japanese mainland cities. Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Kobe all were decimated by incendiary and other bombs. In all, hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed in these air strikes meant to deter the resolve of the Japanese people. Yet, Japanese resolve stayed strong and the idea of a bloody "house to house" invasion of the Japanese mainland would produce thousands more American and Allied casualties. The Allies in late July 1945 declared at Potsdam that the Japanese must unconditionally surrender.
After Japanese leaders flatly rejected the Potsdam Declaration, President Truman authorized use of the atomic bomb anytime after August 3, 1945. On the clear morning of August 6, the first atomic bomb, nicknamed Little Boy, was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. Leveling over 60 percent of the city, 70,000 residents died instantaneously in a searing flash of heat. Three days later, on August 9, a second bomb, Fat Man, was dropped on Nagasaki. Over 20,000 people died instantly. In the successive weeks, thousands more Japanese died from the after effects of the radiation exposure of the blast.

I know MOAB is not really called 'mother of all bombs' but that is the nickname given to it by the military and the news.
The Reuters article is regarding the test of this weapon in Florida. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topnews&storyID=2362505
The reason the Samaritan is used is that it is too large to be loaded onto a normal bomber, even the B52 and is pushed out of the back of the loading doors.
The atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) as you say to end the war with Japan. But Japan had already offered to surrender under EXACTLY the same terms one month before and the Americans refused to accept the surrender. They then dropped the bombs and accepted the surrender under the same terms that had already been offered.
The point is, why are the American leadership so eager to attack Iraq NOW when he has been in violation and contained for 12 years.
The point about the MOAB is that even if it is guided to hit a precise target, i.e. an airport, the residual casualties would be enormous.
We saw from the last gulf war that the amount of Iraqis that were killed was enormous compared to allied soldiers.
6,000 Iraqi soldiers were buried alive as Allied bulldozer filled in the trenches to allow the tanks to cross. The highway of death were the RETREATING Iraqi army were bombed on an open road with no means to defend themselves.
War is wrong, even when it can be seen to be justified, and this war cannot be justified by the rules of international law. Iraq was wrong in 1991 because they invaded another nation and this is what America and Britain now plan to do.

I also suggest you visit www.infowars.com to see the way the truth about the world situation is kept away from people by the mainstream media. The european news services, especially the BBC have been much more reasonable in their coverage of the situation.
I watch FOX NEWS every night just to watch how biased and war-mongering they are (especially Bill O'Reilly)
George Bush stole the election, as you probably know, and has the same advisers that his Dad had when he was in power.
Dick Cheney still picks up a salary from the company that has been awarded the contracts to re-build Iraq !
Rumsfeld was the person who sold the chemical weapons to Saddam in the 1980's
Need I say more?
