I'd love it if Russia boxed up all the letters, drop shipped them to Brooklyn with a note on the box(es) saying "A little housewarming gift for you to take to your new HQ."

*by the way, darkspliver...I do know that you are trying to be helpful, but I find that posting walls of text that has been written by the very org that we are putting under scrutiny, isn't really all that helpful. All that does is make it difficult for people, who use their phones to read this site, to scroll through watchtower generated propaganda. I don't read that stuff unless I am planning on criticizing the way it is written or to point out the errors that have been printed. Just posting it is non-productive. All that does is circulate WT material for them. Jus' sayin'*
But back to the letter writing. I have spent some time reading material from Russian exJWs and they made a couple interesting points about this letter campaign.
Firstly, one poster had mentioned how this campaign is going to prove to the Russian authorities that the JWs are a group of people that will follow, unquestioningly, whatever they are told to do by their American leaders. This is not a good thing in the face of an "extremism" charge.
Secondly, it was discussed that the JWs know that this initiative will do drastic things to the Russian postal service. In fact, jwtalk confirms that. The JWs are all excited over the fact that the Russian postal service is going to get slammed and that their letters have the potential to disrupt that service. That is a problem which could turn into a huge, huge problem for the org. The word used to describe this deliberately aggressive letter writing campaign is "sabotage". Sabotage of the Russian postal system. By an American corporate religion. Done with intent and for malicious reasons - to shut down or overload the postal service and cause problems for the Russian government. Bad news for the WTS. Jail terms seem certain for the WT guys at the Administrative Center.
The JWs are insane. Delusional and behaving like lunatics.
Perhaps the agency to deal with this is the US govt. ..would that be the state dept.?So perhaps write tothem..yes?
I agree with the views of the Russian ex JWs and thought they were stirring up trouble with their JW org video on banned books being planted in Russian Kingdom Halls.
I am more convinced now that the video was fake and not real footage.

One can see on our website a film where the mechanism of a plant is recorded; there it is obvious how the materials are being planted and then police reports are composed on the basis of which local religious organizations are liquidated.

I'm a witness and speak to them daily, nobody is talking about the letter writing or anything connected to it...One thing we all know about witnesses, they can't do anything without announcing it...when they are out in service for a long time, I get calls saying, Girl, just got home...I say, wow from service, that's great...you were out a long time...( I know they are little kids that need to be patted on their backs), so the reason I don't think this letter writing is going over big is because, nobody is bragging about what they wrote. Or that they went to so and so's house for letter writing...
I think the friends secretly see this as not being neutral regarding politics...I'm in the US, and as witnesses we are not allowed to write our gov't about anything, just pay our taxes...but yet, they want us to write someone else's gov't.....I think the friends are seeing through this...and they don't want their names on no data base...they much rather not have a blood transfusion....the data base will only be seen by a few, their names won't be published to show their faith ( it would go un-noticed), but refuse blood, oh, then they can grand stand...
The org is so not political, if you live somewhere and want to run for an office on the board of your building, they have something to say about that too....
Russia is DF'ing the witnesses....

Maybe its local but where I live (US), tons of people are posting pictures of their letters on Instagram and other social media. Our KH had 2 different days where service groups could come to the KH and write letters together. Its mentioned in every single prayer at the meetings since the announcement. Its definitely got the locals in a tizzy.

If you had read my previous post - you could have fairly quickly extrapolated from the what happened with Greece in 1986 that there maybe up to a million letters (that's being very generous and optimistic for the WT)

Yes, thanks for pointing out that JWs aren't exactly the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree.
Because as you and I know, it ain't Christmas!! haha!!
All the letters are going to only a small number of addresses - logistically that does mean more work, but it's relatively straight forward - just lots of bags of post being delivered to just one drop-off point.
And that's the very opposite to Christmas - when lots of letters (cards) are being delivered, not to a single address, but too all differant addresses.
100,000 letters to one address = one van full of post bags = time / postman/woman easy.
100,000 letters to 100,000 different addresses = very very time consuming.
So thanks for highlighting that - it's a combination of what a lack of education and not celebrating Christmas does.....
