Of course you have to agree to the UN Charter before becoming a DPI NGO, just as you have to agree to the terms the IRS lays out for tax exempt organizations before becoming tax exempt.

That doesn’t make jws anymore part of the UN than it makes them part of the IRS.

The issue is whether or not, in 1992, what they agreed with when this happened, violated their beliefs.

Once you show that, you have a legit argument.

Doubter, you are playing with words and definition to reach the conclusion you want. In short, there are two questions:

    1) Should the JW organization be judged by the same standards an individual JW should.

    2) Would it be suitable for an individual to lead others in believing that he has joined the UN and is collaborating/working with it?

Most christians would answer 1) No and 2) No. Good people/organization loose themselves when they excuse bad things by good motives. It would have been better for the WT to say: "Forgive our sin" rather than saying: "We did this bad thing because ... ". There is no repentance.

You cannot sign a document that says: "... must show that they share the ideals of the charter" when you preach that the UN is the wild beast. That, for an individual witness, is a sin.

Think about it: You could not fix the roof of a church even if you were the only roof builder in the village. And for that, you wouldn't even have to declare that you share the ideals of the catholic church.

So yes, it did violate their belief.

    Ok, let’s tackle that.

    (1) where is it a sin, in any publication, for an individual Witness to agree with the UN charter in 1992 when this happened?

    (2) the GB have never agreed with a charter that was drafted by a religion they deem “Babylon the great” and entered a contract with them.

So you are wrong on both counts.

I told y'all Doubter would attempt to hijack the thread.

Doubter:(1) where is it a sin, in any publication, for an individual Witness to agree with the UN charter in 1992 when this happened?

For the same reason that a JW cannot join the YMCA. I'll let WT itself respond:

"Is it true that for religious reasons Jehovah's Witnesses may not become members of the YMCA (Young Mens Christian Association)?

Yes, that is so. We have long recognized that the YMCA, though not being a church as such, is definitely aligned with the religious organizations of Christendom in efforts to promote interfaith.

In joining the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. … Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovah's Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called Christian association would amount to apostasy." Watchtower 1979 Jan 1 pp.30-31 Questions from Readers"

Here is another WT quote condemning any association with wicked organizations:

"The Bible condemns things such as stealing, idolatry and the misuse of blood, so a Christian could hardly engage in work where he directly promoted such things. Would doing the work so closely link a person with a condemned practice that he would be a clear accomplice? Even a janitor or a receptionist at a blood bank or a plant making only weapons of war is directly linked with work contrary to Gods Word." Watchtower 1982 Jul 15 Box on p.26 Employment Factors to Consider

Doubter: (2) the GB have never agreed with a charter that was drafted by a religion they deem “Babylon the great” and entered a contract with them.

To become an NGO, one has to agree with the Charter. This has been the case since before 1992.

Doubter: So you are wrong on both counts.

You ask two questions and reach a conclusion before hearing the answers?

    Wrong analogy there doubter.

Tax or taxation is another situation which the bible clearly speaks about .

The WTS went against its own doctrine of separating oneself from participating in worldly governmental affairs or involving oneself in support. ie. voting. politics etc.

What do you think agreeing and participating with the UN as an NGO is about ?

    Sanchy,

Where does it say the same thing about the UN as it does the YMCA and a blood bank?

    Or... “it doesn’t matter”...?

What did the charter say in 92?

    Or does it matter?
