Inspired by a recent thread quoting from an Awake

Some people who were once faithful Christians have purposely drawn away from God,perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now "apostate fighters" against God's Spirit. They willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing. Have these induividuals committed the unforgiveable sin? Jehovah is the final Judge.-Romans 14:12

Can anyone please tel me "what the spirit is clearly accomplishing"???????????

Would you have left the goof if it was "clear" that Jehovah was accomplishing anything let alone his will through that corupt little organisation?

Hippi asks: " Can anyone please tell me "what the spirit is clearly accomplishing"???????????"

... can i get back to you on that hippi, armaggedon's just around the corner and i got some spirits to catch

serious though - it's a very good point you make. Imagine how much harder it would have been to leave if any of thier prophesies acually came true or if any of thier reasoning actually made sense? (geez we musta been thick lol)

I don't see God as corrupt, so if the organization is corrupt I want no part of it, it couldn't have God's blessings. I hope that the accomplishment is: that those who want to do God's will are able to leave that corrupt organization after seeing it in that light.

It's supposed to be so obvious to everyone that JWs have the Truth... because... well they just do, and everyone knows it. So when someone who has just been woken up at 9:00 on a Sunday morning says "not interested," they are willfully rejecting God and opposing his organization. Who could possibly stand in the face of such opposition, nay, persecution? Only God's Spirit-Directed Organization, surely. </sarcasm>

(I also find it interesting that they can say Jehovah is the final judge - after making such strong judgments about people's motives themselves.)

I read this quote on the other thread and am appalled at the arrogant, self-assuming, self riteous tone that it is written in. I am certainly not surprised, but since the only contact I have had with the publications in 6 or 7 years is whatever is posted on the internet, I can say that nothing has changed. "clearly" accomplishing what? Spreading misery and gloom and providing people with a way to stick their head in the sand rather than deal with life? Teaching people how to perfect the "Woe is me and it is someone elses fault that life is crap and I refuse to take responsibility for the path my life takes, let God fix it?" Some accomplishment! And so typical to blame people's departure on "bitterness, pride or greed." Of course the bitterness couldn't possibly be the result of realizing that one has literally wasted years of their life as a member of a cult, instead it is portrayed as a character flaw that prevents one from seeing all that "good" that is being accomplished.

I have found the road to true worship, not left it. I have become a faithful christian by leaving that oppressive way of life. I am not lost any more. And if finding the right road makes me an "apostate fighter" then I say thanks for the compliment!

Hey ed bananna, that a mark on yer forehead or what?

You seem to forget that Jehovah's publishers aren't really doing the preaching work - it's the angels. Witnesses don't judge people, they're are only there to get the door open so the angels can read the householders heart condition. (mind you i knew a judgemental french sister who used to wipe her feet violently on your mat if you weren't interested (whilst loudly reading Mathews instructions to do so)

I left because of the lack of evidence for 'what the spirit is clearly accomplishing.'

Looking at what the the society has accomplished sofar, I start wondering what 'spirit' it is they are referring to.

It has been a long time since I read the bible but as for the "Preaching Work" (evidence of holy spirit hah) - a scripture is called to mind about "crossing land and sea to make one deciple and then making him a subject of Gehena twice as much themselves" (or words to that effect.)

When the drop out rate is more than 50 % of the baptism numbers (In most western cultures drop out rate is up to 100 - 110%) Is this evedence of the backing of holy spirit?
