During a circuit assembly now prob 20 years ago, an elder giving a part said that he and his family only associate with those that are stronger in the truth than they are. He was promoting that everyone in attendance adopt a similar attitude
Sounds like a fun guy to hang out with! Of course , anyway , it isn't technically possible for everyone only to associate with those stronger than them as eventually you would run out of "stronger" JWs to associate with.
In a similar vein , remember our service overseer giving a talk stating that "the Society says that everyone should be above the average monthly hours for ministry". I spoke to him afterward telling him that it was mathematically impossible that everybody could be above average - by definition , some would be below and some would be above. I even drew a diagram!
He didn't seem to understand the point and started getting annoyed with me , asking if I thought the Society were wrong. Eventually I just gave up and I asked him exactly where he had seen this incredible reference and he said he would get back to me with it ( needless to say he never did. ) Yet another example of nonsense in JW cuckoo land.
