Elder gossip

I'll try to keep this short. My experience at the hall is elders not really engaging in friendship building communication with anyone. The only time they really communicate with you is to counsel you or tell you where you need to make adjustments. They do however communicate with other elders, and barely talk to ministerial servants. Anyone else experience this?

Yes, I was an elder and that's exactly what I did.

All the time Jumongi, all the time. The majority of elders, I stress the majority as there actually is some very kind and considerate ones (true Christians), tend to only seek you out when you have done something wrong or to lecture you or to slave over something they don't wish to do.

The elders derive their power from those that give it to them.

No acknowledgement. No power. End of story.

I have experienced that too. Along with the blatant, malicious gossip they engage in when in FS. Bad mouthing anyone they can. . .real "christians", NOT!

I know that I must be the gossip of many JWs but I don't know what they're saying because I have no relatives or friends in there that speak to me. Lucky me.

Ok hate me now, I was pioneering and an elder, single and very in tune with the congregations individual needs. I was shot down repeatedly when I asked what the elder body was going to do to help brother or sister so and so. They said it was not their problem. It helped me get out of the cult so I am not angry with them, just aware how pathetic they are.

Ex elder here as well. Was absolutely shocked at how critical the tone was behind closed doors when "problem" publishers came up for discussion. Also when it was time for appointments to be discussed a list with publisher names and "average hours" were the only two columns considered. 95% of the discussion was on whether the hours met the 10 hour cutoff, and "visibility" in the hall was second place. Some spiritual paradise.

But like Wasanelder, it didn't take me long to figure out I just wasn't a "fit" for the good ole boys club.
