I read on another thread how this site has helped another user and that for them it has been a form of therapy.

For me YES, JWN has most certainly been a form of therapy.

I recall the days I first came to JWN (in 2004) and couldn't believe I had found people who were of the same opinion as myself in regards to the Society.

It was this site that led me to reading Ray Franz's book 'Crisis of Conscience' which I read twice within a week. It also led me to JW facts that goes into every nook and cranny regarding the Society's teachings, policies and history.

Note: I also visit many other sites and watch you tube videos a lot, but gravitate here most of the time.

Coming here to express my inner most thoughts and feelings has helped me no end and allows me to overcome my frustrations.

It has also given me some powerful advice eg not rushing in and confronting the elders and getting myself disfellowshipped. I was almost on the verge of dissasociating, but came here first to look at experiences and seek advice. How grateful I am for that as dread to think the mental pressure I might have put myself through if I had.

It was this site where I learned just how serious and ugly the societies shunning policy really is. I also really enjoy reading about other people's experiences and have learned so much from these.

JWN has helped me keep things in perspective and I am thankful for that.

The thing is, we have a very unique situation and unless you've been there and lived it, you just don't get it. I think this is especially true of us born ins who may be 2nd...3rd...4th gen....but we get each other and some of us need that...my husband was raised Catholic...never believed it...but was wanting spirituality, a religion...and that got him hooked in ...he never totally bought into the rhetoric...and we both outed....but even he doesn't get how deeply ingrained the thought processes and fears are, and the damage that religion caused me.....but I know some of you out there get it very clearly. No new friend who's never been a witness can truly understand. So....yes....this site is therapeutic....and much appreciated. And we are in a position to help one another along...we are a support system.....I appreciate you all very much!!💝 but not the trolls....haha

Yes, this community was integral in helping me to see that I was not alone while waking up!

I could see that many, many others traveled the path before me, and their input helped me greatly.

I hope too that my little contributions may help others too who are waking up

I think I joined about 15 years ago. I've delved into other social sharing sources (namely Facebook) in order to express other opinions I have. However, I keep coming back here (this last time after a multi-year absence).

I'm very greatful I found this site to vent the pain of my experiences as a JW. It's been not only cathartic but damned-right therapeutic. I've also come to know in a special way a lot of very smart people on this site as well as courageous and funny people. I feel freer here than on any other social site because I know that most people here understand with unique empathy my life-changing experiences with the JWs.

Yes it does. It helps me realize that I am not the only person feeling the way I do. It also keeps us up to date on what is going on in WT land. We usually know what is going on before our family that is still in. ha ha

Yes this site is my therapy. I visit every day even just to catch up on what we're discussing or whats come out in WT-land.

Has anybody read Captives Of A Concept? It's another JW expose. I read it one sitting last night. If you ever needed 100% proof of their beliefs being false using only their literature you have to read it.

I have to agree with all the commentators so far. Without a doubt, this site has become my "go to" site for the latest and greatest shit from the wtbts. I was and elder (big deal--I know) for decades. I was basically a born-in since my mom started us in the jw religion when I was only 4 yo. I spent the late 60's, 70's, 80's, and most of the 90's being a 'golden boy' for the wt. It's a real f**king shock to the system when one discovers that one has been duped for nearly 60 years. The mental and emotional upheaval of that realization put me in the hospital for a month followed by months of therapy! I'm feeling fantastic now! I now own a life worth living. No more FOG. The shackles are off. The freedom to think and say what I really believe is beyond liberating!

I thank the many here that have reaffirmed my confidence in humankind. I thank the many here that helped me to remain patient in my, so far, successful fade. (Unfortunately, my wife and several of my children still remain captive to the wtbts, but I'm working on that with some success.) I thank the many here for their fantastic research in an effort to reveal ttatt. I thank Simon for his labor, a genuine labor of love for truth! I also thank those who disagree with the value of this site because your contributions demonstrate that it's okay to have your OWN ideas about things even if I think they're ridiculous.

    just saying!

This site has helped me so much because as you say, you 'get' it. Even my psychologist doesn't really understand. You've got to have been there to know. This site has helped me so much. People have been so kind and supportive.
