personal growth. Most people are angry at THEMSELVES for not seeing it sooner and they just blame the WTBS. If it was not them there would be something else that 'filled their need' and would have ensnared them. The Jews in Jesus time didn't sit around whining about the rules that the Pharisee's ( < spelling ) set up. It was a fact of life. The rules are great if you are a pharisee cuz you get all the perks. The let down comes when you realize you will never be one, or if you are one, when you suddenly stop one day and realize what that you got caught up in some stupid ritualistic routine after you have already wasted many years on it and hurt a lot of good & not so good people along the way. The fact remains, Jesus left a model for us to follow, nothing the misguided in Walkill can say affects that basic truth. OK, flame on.

Your forgetting about those like myself that were brought up as a JW from birth, we had been fully programed with nothing else seeming as we were not allowed to have contact with others or know any different. Not until I was of a decent age did I realise the cracks in the surface and by that time I was already pretty fucked up. Even now that I am out of their control I still have a entire lifes worth of programming to get rid of, it's not just a simple matter of oh well I know its crap now I'll throw away everything I have done for 90% of my life and start from scratch.

And what about those JW kids that have been abused sexually, mentally, physically and emtionally ... yeah sure they have the strength to stand up against those people in their life that causing them hell on earth, they simply don't have it in them to get out of that situation like they wish they could.

Your obviously talking from a very limited veiwpoint and I can clearly see you don't have alot of 'real' life experience as far as this issue is concerned

would be something else that 'filled their need' and would have ensnared them

for a person who became a jw as an adult your point could indeed carry some weight, for wt does offer to fill a need-

loss a mother, bad health, tired of the pain and suffering one sees day to day, wt does indeed offer the solutions

but how do you account for folks like myself who were brought up as jw from infancy-

Out of curiosity, what is your purpose here, 'it's so simple'? Is it to help us with our personal growth?

    stinky panz,

    LOL! Good one!

    simple one,

: If it was not them there would be something else that 'filled their need' and would have ensnared them.

So you are basically saying that people are idiots, and it's ok for people to take advantage of that?

Simple; Your 'arguement' is morally bankrupt, as it suggests that cult victims have themselves to blame... patently absurd in it's way. Will you now argue that children who are abused wanted it, or that women who are raped asked for it? Perhaps people who are robbed are responsible for that too? Any other generalisations that are so generalised they are meaningless you would care to make to stroke your ego, or are you done for now?

If you were trying to make yourself look clever and superior, you failed. All you did was depict yourself as callous and shallow. Whether trolling for flames is your agenda, or you have some other thing going on in what passes for your head, I don't know, but I will no doubt extract great amusement from further bleating on your part.

Next time you want to assemble an arguement, try having a bit more glue.

when you suddenly stop one day and realize what that you got caught up in some stupid ritualistic routine after you have already wasted many years on it

Sounds pretty cool from a simple mind.
However, an intellegent mind would realise that 6 million people dont just wake up one day and say "hey I think i'll join a destructive cult today and remain in it for a lifetime"

Simple, people become snared in movements that you can only imagine in your worst nightmares, if you havent been in our shoes then get an education and come back to the real life.

Excellent point. Victims of all sorts, including childhood sexual abuse, hear this all the time from persons who don't have a clue at best, and are cruelly heartless at worst.
