Cults are usually identified as high control groups or organizations run by a few select self appointed men or woman, they are usually developed upon a containment of ignorance, fear, lies and self serving opportunism.
One could correctly say the Watchtower's Corporation public sales representatives are a highly controlled cult, with much regulation and guarded repression.
Eric didn't have to do this but to his credit he took one for the team. To make known how diabolical and Unscriptural judicial committees are!
I hope and pray that this (and any others like it) are used in Court to sue the bastards and that lawsuits against Religious Freedom outdo the lawsuits on Child Sexual Abuse.
Put me on a jury for "malice" and I will give this man MILLION$.
For now they hide behind Freedom of Religion, but put this before 12 jurors and the WTS does NOT stand a chance!
We can thank the Hare Krishnas for the general public's mental image of what constitutes a "cult".
It's important to remember that in this day and age, a "cult" is actually unlikely to involve robes, shaved heads, and chanting.

I remember that group in the ā70s with the robes, chanting, tambourines and white paint on their foreheads if Iām not mistaken... It is this stereotypical image of what constitutes a cult in many peopleās minds, not just JWs.
I DO remember Witnesses saying āno, weāre not a cultā š and making fun of groups like this and others...Now, we all know that so-called cults donāt have to wear special garb or chant. There are other things they do that put them in a cult category either totally or partly.
What got me with the JWs was their intrusiveness. They expected you to tell them things you wouldnāt tell the man down the street. There were many things wrong with JWs but this lack of boundaries got me the most. Itās so unnatural and I donāt miss this nonsense and Iād never tolerate it again.
I've said this before, but I prefer the term "Authoritarian High Control Group".
Its a lot wordier, but ten bucks says that if/when you broke it down to its individual components, even the most hard-core WT loyalist would have difficulty denying the label.
Several years ago, the founder of IHOP, Mike Bickle, created a list of seven ways to recognize the difference between a religious community and a cult. Written down, the signs seem clear:
1. Opposing critical thinking
2. Isolating members and penalizing them for leaving
3. Emphasizing special doctrines outside scripture
4. Seeking inappropriate loyalty to their leaders
5. Dishonoring the family unit
6. Crossing Biblical boundaries of behavior (versus sexual purity and personal ownership)
7. Separation from the Church
