I thought that this little gem deserved a thread of it's own.

    4. Why is it important for us to be present at the Memorial if at all possible?

4 Reflect on the importance of attending the Memorial. Remember, congregation meetings are part of our worship. Surely Jehovah and Jesus take note of who makes the effort to attend this most important meeting of the year. Frankly, we want them to see that unless it is physically or circumstantially impossible, we will be present at the Memorial. When we show by our actions that meetings for worship are important to us, we give Jehovah added reason to keep our name in his “book of remembrance”—“the book of life”—in which the names of those who are in line to attain to everlasting life are inscribed.—Mal. 3:16; Rev. 20:15.

There we have it. We are being watched. If you don't attend the memorial god will kill you. A simple message from a loving organisation

All that despite the fact that no where in the NT is the Lord's Evening Meal described as:

A yearly occasion, or the most important meeting,

Nor is any Christian meeting described that way.

Romans 14:5, in fact, says quite the opposite. And Galatians 4:10-11 decries the setting up of "seasons" such as a "memorial season."

"Keep doing this in remembrance of me."

How can we remember someone whom we've never met?

It should be 'keep doing this in remembrance of the story you've read about me'

The memorial was for the apostles and those back then.

Love how they use the word "frankly"!

Basically they are saying "failure to obey is a death sentence!"

My wife asked me if I was going and I calmly told her that as we are all Christ's brothers I would have to partake and this might be embarrassing for her and those who know me which is most of the cong. She is becoming curious now as to where I get all my info. I told her that most comes from the inconsistencies and changes in the watchtower such as overlapping generations with no scriptural backup. There is still hope.

Is it a bit hypocritical to attend the memorial where the "partakers" are actually violating "god's law" regarding blood?

I mean if blood only symbolizes life and yet jw's are required to respect the symbol of life, blood, more that life itself, how is it that the "partakes" are ok with drinking the wine which symbolizes jesus' blood, which jw's are to abstain from?. Aren't they violating god's law?

If refraining from taking a blood transfusion shows respect for LIFE then shouldn't the wine served at the memorial be poured out instead of being drank?

    just saying!

But why is it so important for people that won't partake to attend? It's the same talk year after year. "here's some interesting facts about the wine - it has to be an unfortified wonder with no additives" why does Jesus give a shit if everyone pops by to hear trivia on Passover bread and wine? Could it be that memorial attendance is a key stat that they use to insist that there's tremendous growth? Or maybe that people are more motivated to donate for the memorial? No, it must be that Jesus will kill you if you miss hearing a boring talk for the 28th time.

But why is it so important for people that won't partake to attend?

My question exactly, OneEyedJoe. Besides, it is the height of bad manners to invite people to an "Evening meal" and tell them they cannot join in but can observe. Where in Scripture are people expected to attend to observe others partaking? No where. For an organization that claims to follow the Bible, this is glaring.

The first paragraph has the most cultish sentence I have seen them put into writing . "Each year, this observance is the most amazing unifying event that takes place on planet earth." Only those fully in can swallow this imaginary image that there is nothing else going on that evening anywhere on earth, geez its getting so deep.

we give Jehovah added reason to keep our name in his “book of remembrance”—“the book of life”

Sadly the names of JWs wont be due to not adhering to Scripture and the instructions made by Jesus himself concerning partaking of the emblems..
