Are Circuit Overseers next?

I could see them axing the COs but they still need some level of middle management that can keep the congregation elders in line. They want every congregation to be as uniform as possible and a travelling middle manager makes that happen.

I think them axing half the COs and having a yearly visit would probably be just as effective at achieving their goals and save them quite a bit of money too.

I believe that's the next change is to drop the CO or at least restructure. You could have a Circuit Body of Elders made up of say 10-12 elders in the circuit. That body could organize the CAs, choose speakers, send a rep out to each congo twice a year for a midweek/Sunday meeting, deliver the WTS outline and meeting with the local elders and FS on Sat. That Circuit BOE would report directly to the Branch just like the COs do now. They would sign off on any appointments/deletions in a fashion similar to what the CO does now. Plus, ZERO expenses because they aren't in full time service so require no WTS or circuit support.

This would be a super easy thing to implement and I'm convinced the elimination of the DO was step 1. You could even have the outline for the servant meeting delivered via video if they wanted to.

there is no reason a CO can't be an elder from a local congregation. I've seen this many times. My dad was asked to do this but sadly cancer finished him off before he went CO.

this would mean that the WBT$ wouldn't need to spend a single penny on sending out the CO.

    What about the zone overseers?

Were the DO's just reassigned as Special Pioneers?

Zone overseers no longer exist either.

Most DOs & ZOs were reassigned as COs, and the COs with lesser "seniority" got reassigned to...well...who knows? Special Pioneers if they were lucky, "plain old pioneer" if not.

I can't remember where I saw it but recently the bOrg crowed about spending upwards of $100 million a year for CO expenses. Eliminating that in one fell swoop might be too much temptation for them to bear.

It would be sweet justice to see those who so effortlessly, and pompously condemn and belittle those who work full time, and have to live "in the real world" now be dropped on their arrogant asses in the mix. Not so easy when mom isn't paying your way through life will it be boys.

There are a couple of COs and COWs that I'd enjoy seeing the expression on their faces when they get a "Hit the Road" letter.

Good idea DoubtingBro, but I think there may be one issue.

The only problem I see with it is the GB know how many personality and other issues can occur on a body of elders which is one of the reasons COs and the old DOs worked alone but under tight control. If they used a body of elders from various local halls they'd still need someone to oversee them to nip trouble in the bud. Perhaps one of those elders could be called the CO but in fact not be a paid or travelling brother. He'd have control to stop problems but the body as a whole could do the other work involved in running a circuit.

Old intel that never bore fruition, but who knows what the future will bring?

Oh...I couldn't agree with you more DOC. Not only would I like to see their expression but I'd love to kick their a** out the door physically (with a BIG smile on my face).
