DNA works similar to computer programming code.

No not really. It is a metaphor for DNA nothing more.

As in the OP post, what came first the chicken or the egg...intelligent life using DNA as a programming code for all life forms on Earth.

That isn't the question in the OP. It is about replicators or protein.

Simple replicators came before intelligent life obviously.

There was an interesting article a few weeks ago that looked at it from the point of view of physics. It took the perspective of living things as local and temporary systems that find efficient ways to capture energy and defy entropy. It showed how life is seems to be inevitable.

If it could happen by random chance, then scientists should easily be able to put this 'soup' together.

    No not easily at all.

If you really want to know why read Nick Lane's excellent book.

Or you could just keep making evidence-free assertions.

Contrast the whole world and many millennia with a laboratory and a finite amount of research time and funding. Ponder that and you have your answer!

Here is the article I was talking about.

A New Physics Theory of Life - Jeremy England, a 31-year-old physicist at MIT, thinks he has found the underlying physics driving the origin and evolution of life...

    Why does life exist?

Popular hypotheses credit a primordial soup, a bolt of lightning and a colossal stroke of luck. But if a provocative new theory is correct, luck may have little to do with it. Instead, according to the physicist proposing the idea, the origin and subsequent evolution of life follow from the fundamental laws of nature and “should be as unsurprising as rocks rolling downhill.”

It's quite hard work but worth the effort.

DNA contains information.lnformation is knowledge communicated or received.instructions are imprinted in an egg from the beginning and direct it to a specific outcome. So you have to ask yourself the question where did the information come from?lnformation just doesnt appear out of thin air it comes from intelligence.

atomant - You start with the assertion "DNA contains information" then define information to suit your purpose and run from there, proving nothing yet asserting lots...

DNA contains lots of things but "information" is not one of them!

    DNA contains information

Not in the normal sense of the word. This is something that creationists repeat over and over without having the slightest clue what they mean.

Information is nothing but a metaphor as far as DNA is concerned.

DNA is nucleotides doing their thing - most of it is gibberish...

Would you agree that it takes intelligence to make letters or codes .?

Would you agree that it takes intelligence to make letters or codes .?

    Your question is too vague.

Please be specific and give an example
