Before we look at the process some basics if you like some basic education:

Although the list below mentiones many other United Nation Bodies and entities involved in human rights... http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/Pages/OtherUnitedNationsBodies.aspx

for our purpose I am concentrationg on the The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Under the auspices of this Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights you will find all Human Right Bodies, charter-based and treaty-based.

"charter body" = intergovermental independent body, separate entity of OHCHR,
" treaty based body" = inter-national body (but not a inter-governmental body and no separate OHCHR entity) created under international treaties , "experts" are mandated to monitor State parties' compliance with their treaty obligations. 18 members, not more than one national of the same state party to a covenant, a covenant

    http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/Pages/HumanRightsBodies.aspx

In our case are 2 bodies of special interest:the first is charter-based:

    Human Rights council
(HRC) working with the UPR process (UPR = a state-driven process under auspices of Human Rights council)

Youtube: What is HR council https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2YJgfJ1rC4and

The second is one of the human rights treaty bodies namely the Human Rights Committee that is monitoring Implementation of CCPR ( International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) treaty obligations an thus itself abbr. CCPR because HRC is already used for the council.

Youtube: What is HR treaty body? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE0T45t040k&feature=related

In the process JW submissions are discussed in one charter-based and in one treaty-based Human Right body.

The UN issue was a total deal breaker for me and began the quick end of my being a JW.

Very interested to see how this all plays out and how JWs will react when the evidence of their so-called "christian neutrality" is clearly seen to all.

    1. WT was never a "member" of U.N. (only states can be " member" states!)
    2. WT was what now is called "DPI-NGO"
    3. Not the WT NY. but the European sister is as Civil society organisation now appealing to and submitting reports to the U.N. Human Rights Committee, resutling to the above achievments.

Does not JW by appealing to the Human rights committee implicitly agree to the U.N. charta and the UN International Declaration of Human Rights ?? To the same U.N. charta that was the reason to disassociate the WT as DPI-NGO. Is this open and public cooperation with U.N. and OSCE not more implicitly agreement to the U.N.O. than was ever a library card in New York, that was in the possession of the WTBTS N.Y?

The question is: does the Watchtower practice the ideals of the UN charter? Unfortunately, no. Former JWs need representation before the UN or OSCE as well, in light of these two points.

    Article 18.

    • Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
    • Article 19.

      • Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

We could generelly ask for contact persons in the Human Rights committee in our matters,, might be human rights attorneys or might be human rigth organisations who have already experience, so that our problem could be addressed sharply at the goal: human right violations within minor religions.

I think it should not be directed against a special religion, but described as general problems in minor religions which confine themselve. Because minor religions are protected under the Declaration of Human Rights!

We could only propose an addition legal procedure to supervise the cult-internal processes and disciplinationsmethods for harmful actions (as well as the treatment of former members by members of minor religions), which could be implemented as review process. Only a thought. Think of suppression of women too in many religions.

We could ask for establishment of a Human rights Commission who would engage in this problem and who could prepare the legal frame.

BTW I am alread trying to prepare a sample letter to the U.N. ,

sombody could write it in better english then.

Who was it who first suggested reporting to the UN's NGO people that, internally, the WTS, despite having NGO status, doesn't actually subscribe to or practice any of the principles of the UN Charter?
