That is the point, the operative term being “practical purposes”. Scientific theories are judged as more or less useful rather than objectively true or false.
The orbit of Mercury proving Newton wrong is commonly referred to by people who appear credentialed and know what they’re talking about. Maybe you are right, I’m not in a position to say.

I don’t find support for the idea that Newton is objectively true at a macro level as suggested above.
Biological evolution is a very complicated and expansive science, its much easier to say well a supernatural being created all living things on earth.
When its realized the ones who say that are also trying to self empower themselves with this supernatural being, its understandable to why there is so much opposition coming from mostly religious leaders. ie. JWS religion
