    Scully:

Every day I find yet another reason to despise the Organization.

Same here. It's like turning over a pile of rocks...every rock uncovers a whole batch of new and nasty critters that skirmish for cover.

<<Kicks SixofNine's sorry butt off of this thread...there, is that close enough to "war" for ya? LOL >>

    jgnat:

the WTS is eroding the trust it's faithful sheep have willingly handed over.

I only wish that the erosion was more pronounced than it appears to be. Perhaps the momentum is just developing. Time will tell.

One thing about this section of the article...it doesn't start off talking about "dissenters." It starts off stalking about "arguments, and wrangling." Most of us would tend to agree that such confrontational behavior is objectionable. It's not until later in the same section that the WTS does the bait-and-switch, when they subtly sneak in:

When we maintain a mild temper even under provocation, dissenters are often moved to reassess their criticism.

    And, of Paul:

He smoothed over strained relations and laid the basis for peace and unity in the congregation.

The average JW will remember this section as a kindly and Christian reminder against overt heated arguments...but in the back of their minds has been placed the idea that even simple disagreements and misgivings themselves are to be avoided. To put the icing on the cake:

The responsibility to help others is certainly not limited to times when the congregation's peace and unity are threatened.

So, expressing difference of opinion is finally classified as a threat to the congregation, subliminally conjuring up the standard defense mechanisms: fists tight and minds closed.
