If i've offended anyone, especially our American (non-military) friends...I'm sorry.
I obviously meant the American military that are actually conducting military action in Iraq at the moment in which friendly fire incidents have claimed the lives of soldiers, journalists and RAF pilots. (I too hope they managed to eject)
Contrary to popular belief, I am not that much of an idiot but that is a matter of opinion...which my wife probably agrees with.

Sadly, the latest I hear on FOXnews said it was confirmed they didn't get to eject and perished. My condolences to loved ones.

In spite of their advanced training most of the forces are very young. And I mean no disrespect to their youth, but these kids do get excited. During the conflict in Southeast Asia a lot of the groung pounders would not call in air support because they were more afraid of being 'smoked' by the sky jockeys than the VC!
Friendly fire is always a real and constant danger. Even in war games troops get injured and killed. The shear numbers and complexities of deployment guarantee snafu's. And the rivalries between coalition forces has to be addressed. Not sharing up to date intellegence on troop deployments or delays in execution of orders can put friendlys in the 'box'.
We 'yanks' are deeply saddened when our brothers-in-arms are hurt or killed by our actions. We tend to be the ones making these errors because we have, by far, the most men, women, and hardware in the 'vone'. Conversely, should this 'action' go south and get ugly we stand to lose the most. Maverick

"but, what am I saying, the Americans have a president that has attacked another nation without just cause... so thats where they get it from."
You need to go off and get yourself educated and then come back. Asleep in Civics, were you? Asleep again in history? Asleep one more time in current events?
We need to throw you back till you grow up, searchie. You haven't done enough searching.
Um, one more thing. You're not just taking up one more "precious line" in the index, there genius, where do you think all these posts are being stored? In your ear? How 'bout server space. Is this an example of the depth of all your insights - shallow?

I think your statements are uncalled for, and that this criticism of America is unjust. Running any military operation is very complex, and even more so when you are dealing with a military the size of the U.S. military. Not to mention the complexities combining the military efforts of several nations.
Friendly fire seems to be limited to the Americans. You never hear of the Royal Marines accidentally shooting up a car of journalists or blowing an American plane out of the sky...
The Americans are very aggressive militarily. They are involved in a lot of conflicts, so it makes sense that the total number of mistakes would be higher. The more conflicts one is involved in, the higher the number of mistakes that will be made. That is simple common sense.
Running a military the size of the U.S. military is a HUGE undertaking. A side effect of that is more blunders. I don't think you are being fair.
The Iraqi's did not kill one coalition serviceman during the last war but the Americans killed quite a few by friendly fire.
That makes sense. The Iraqs have a smaller military and they are seasoned in fighting desert conflicts.

Your wife is a smart lady, Searchfo..
Why the criticisms of the friendly fire accidents? Do you have specific knowledge of how to do the job w/o these incidents? If so please share. And why the Yanks vs. Brits angle? You must be aware of the vast difference in size of force between the two? You must be aware that it may come out that the pilot is the one in error? In any case, you must be aware that a war is a logistics nightmare?
I think your comments are idiotic. Hence my response.
