It has been well documented that Jehovah`s Witnesses have long claimed that Christendom has hidden the name of God for Centuries.

And that they alone have restored that name in the last century,. Making it known in all of the earth for a witness.

Nothing could be further from the truth .

1.Justus Martinus a 13th century Spanish Monk took the four Hebrew letters of the tetragrammaton for Gods name and added vowels to those consonants and came up with Hebrew letters to english JHVH and the vowels he added E O A

which amounted to Jehovah ,remember this was in the thirteenth Century by a Spanish Catholic monk.

2.This name persisted throughout the centuries to this day ,in many so of christendoms writings etc, etc.

3.Churches of Christendoms religions throughout the world have the name Jehovah in stone on them engraved since that 13th Century

4.In the 1970`s if I remember correctly their was an international convention held around the world in which the JW`s released a publication of the conventions and the Churches of Christendom to the delegates showing these churches many of which had the name Jehovah engraved in stone on them.......Centuries old churches

5.The Catholic Douay Version Has Jehovah`s name once .

6.The Catholic Knox version has Yahweh all throughout the Old Testament

7.The Church of England has used the name Jehovah from earliest times and is still used in songs of praise and prayers as we speak as do many of her sister religions .

8.Jehovah`s Witnesses in the book "Aid To Bible Understanding" Admitted that the pronunciation of Gods name was not accurate ,but was the most commonly used at the time .

And they admitted Yahweh or Yehowah may be more accurate to the truth .

    So my question is ?

Are they more interested in the popularity of the name Jehovah and by whom ? Christendom ?

Or are they more interested in truthfully witnessing about the accurate pronunciation of Gods holy name .

The WTS. is more interested in what possibly can be advantageous in proliferating literature by attracting people to their literature.

From out that endeavor the WTS created the JWS.

This proclamation that they wanted to express and teach god's true name and sanctify it, is just another long stream of self praising bullshit.

Its hype, its lying, its corruption, all packaged up and presented with righteous honest virtue to sell and commercialize in the endeavor to create power and money for the top leading men.

It’s not all black or white. It’s true that “Christendom” has long used God’s name in hymns, in a few verses of traditional Bibles such as the King James, on buildings, in preaching sermons, and religions books.

It is also true that God’s name has been removed from a lot of modern language Bibles, such as the Revised Standard Version, New International Version, New American Standard Bible, and many other modern versions, and there is a general aversion to using God’s name as a common way of addressing or referring to God in many churches. (With a few obvious exceptions such as sacred name churches, or where there is a specific sermon focussed on divine names)

What I find interesting, and very seldom discussed by JWs (or others) is the effect that JWs themselves taking up the divine name from the 1930s had upon use of the divine name by other churches. I suspect that the use Jehovah’s Witnesses made of the divine name impacted the disuse of the name in other churches, and the decision of Bible translators not to use the name. For example the American Standard Version used the name Jehovah throughout the Old Testament and was favoured by early Jehovah’s Witnesses. The New American Standard Bible, published in 1963 removed God’s name from the Old Testament. Was this decision to some extent a reaction to JWs and the NWT? This seems likely to me. It raises the question: if JWs didn’t exist, would other churches use God’s name more?

Consider this: the New International Version and the New World Translation are the two modern Bible translations with the highest circulation over the past half century. The New World Translation uses the divine name throughout the Old Testament and restores it to the New Testament 237 times on the basis of the argument that it appeared in the original. The New International Version on the other hand does not use the divine name at all in the text, and in the foreword states they agree with long-standing tradition that God should not be named.

On the basis of this situation alone I think that Jehovah’s Witnesses can claim with some justification that they stand out in modern times as proponents of the the use of the divine name.

Jehovah is the common name found in king James and other bibles. I heard a radio preacher use Yeshua instead of jesus it only confused whatever his message was.

I agree that the pushing makes others reluctant to use any name

One thing is the repeated (fake) experience where a householder learns god has a name; give us a break

We have to nuance that a bit. The vowel sounds of Elohim and Adonai were in use a millennium before Martinus. He may have been the first to use the anglicized form Jehovah.

The WTS also wanted to point the wrongly directed worship to Jesus that much of Christendom has been practicing. Jesus is not the main god he the son the savior as it were. Actually Russell used the KJV of the bible and in this bible Jehovah is used in the old testament. So there were a lot of Protestant sects who used the name Jehovah.

JWs have a fascination with the word Jehovah that is at minimum bizarre, to the point that if you pray and just use God instead, they would find that suspicious.

This focused fixation about Jehovah was deliberately devised by the WTS's leaders because they self proclaimed (1919) they were god's solemnly chosen earthly organization/people.

The bible might say something different about that particularly about standing away from false prophets or unloyal disobedient apostates against Jesus.

So, the Almighty god, who wipes off so many tribes in the Bible- for petty reasons - and who is a Jealous god, remains silent when his holy name is taken out of his Holy book.

According to the Watchtower, Eve was the first to use the name of Jehovah.

    Watchtower-1959-October-1st-pp.591-592

    WHY DEATH?

27 What is the Bible’s biography of Adam? Why did Adam die? The Holy Scriptures definitely indicate that God wisely put a curb on man’s Edenic freedom by law. This legal curb was to remind Adam as a son of God that he was a dependent creature with a purpose to perform, the divine will, the will of his heavenly Father. This guidance of man’s life would bring man greatest happiness. God said to his son Adam: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” (Gen. 2:16, 17) Eve and Adam defiantly rebelled against the Sovereign Power of heaven and thus disobeyed and sinned, and brought upon themselves this penalty of death, against which they had been warned. The Bible continues to say: “With that Jehovah God put him [Adam] out of the garden of Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken. And so he drove the man out . . . Now Adam had intercourse with Eve his wife and she became pregnant. In time she gave birth to Cain and said: ‘I have acquired a man with the aid of Jehovah.’ Later she again gave birth, to his brother Abel. . . . And Adam lived on for a hundred and thirty years. Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth. And the days of Adam after his producing Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.”—Gen. 3:23, 24; 4:1, 2; 5:3-5.

However, two year previous to the above quote in 1957 the Watchtower said, that it was in the days of Enosh when calling on the name “Jehovah” was started.

    Watchtower-1957-April-15th-pp.234-235

“25 Because the first false god was his enemy and slanderer and had used a serpent to lead Eve and Adam into sin, Jehovah God called him “the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan.” (Rev. 20:2; 12:9, NW) Many of Adam’s grandchildren must have worshiped false gods. Many things that have to do with worship and that searching men have dug up from the earth from long ago serve to show that they did so. In the days of Adam’s grandson Enosh they even reached the point of calling other things by the name of Jehovah: “At that time a start was made of calling on the name of Jehovah.” (Gen. 4:25, 26, NW) False worship must have been speeded up when angelic sons of God in heaven disobediently came down from heaven by taking on the form of handsome men and marrying the good-looking women and raising children called Nephʹi·lim· “The Nephʹi·lim proved to be in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God continued to have relations with the daughters of men and they bore sons to them, they were the mighty ones who were of that world, the men of fame. Consequently Jehovah saw that the badness of man had become great in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.” What wonder that the earth was full of violence as a result of them! False worship always leads to that harmful result.—Gen. 6:1-5, 13, NW.”
