  Ok. I jumped the gun here. I couldn't find pics of the properties in question but comparable homes in the 350k range are average country homes . by no means mansions. The op went overboard . even so owning weekend getaway homes is no way to spend dedicated funds.

  It was just something I saw on YouTube. I know the houses are not super expensive, well one is quite, and I have no clue of their value as I'm in the UK. But the thing is, if these rather nice homes do belong to the GB it kind of shatters my JW friends opinion 'the GB have given up everything for us and live in cell like rooms at Bethel'

  I appreciate you posting this video because it gives perspective.

  Tuxedo Park is well known as a luxury area by anyones standards.

  And why do the GB members need second homes anyway? Why do they need them in the same area as they are supposedly living?

  And who paid for these homes?

  On a recent short tour of Warwick, the hostess explained that there are 569 residences adjacent to the offices and another 21 detached residences “in the woods”. I was curious as to who lives “in the woods”, but I did not want to put the pretty young lady on the spot.

  I can see how they can justify themselves with this. Many years ago I think it was when they got their new HQ`s in Brooklyn and they were showing the staircase of the building and the obvious money that was spent in the building and someone queried why such expense was out layed in this project and the answer given was something like this.

  No expense was spared in building Solomons Temple Christendom spare no expense in building churches to their Gods We have the truth about the one true God so shouldn`t we spare no expense in honouring him ?

  And of course Solomon King David benefited by living in such quarters so why not the latter day Guardians Of Doctrine benefit after all their responsible for saving all of humankind on a grander scale than Noah providing they obey us.

  Thanks for your post Smiddy but the JWs in trying to rationalize the expense of their flashy HQ quote Solomon and his temple. Both Solomon and his temple are fiction. Does it make sense to quote novels and other people's political dreams to justify activities?

  They can justify anything. They live in palatial homes, be it in their lakeside retreat or a gorgeous house nearby. They don't have to worry about where the next meal is coming from, how they are going to pay their bills or medical expenses. Meanwhile JWs in Russia have lost their jobs, JWs in Eritrea have been languishing in jail for years and so on and on...

  How can JWs not see the injustice or are they, like my friend, totally hoodwinked into believing the GB are living like monks just for us?

  It's like the translation office in Wales/U.K. The most gorgeous water-side holiday home property! JWs I know who have been there say it's stunning. Yet down the road, in the nearby town, they could easily rent a couple of offices to work from.

  This makes me so angry and I'm just grateful that I finally work up to it.

  What is the new hq's for then? they don't do printing there, what exactly do jw's think hq is for?
