I think if you do a little research you'll find that KBR (subsidiary of Halliburton) was awarded contracts with the Army Corps. of Engineers in Kosovo, Bosnia, and Albania as well. If my memory serves me correctly Bill Clinton was the President then. The reason this contract was won without a bid is because the want the wells capped now - not 5 months from now when the bidding process is over. Halliburton doubled it's business as a Governement contractor when Cheney was there. They've been doing like work since. The fact that the Army Corps. of Engineers chose KBR really has nothing to do with the Executive Branch of our Government or Dick Cheney. Some journalists are just as good as the Watchtower Society at being sneaky and pushing their agenda.

I checked on this a little further and found out that as far as the oil well fires go, Halliburton was the only one of the companies that was prepared to start on this immediately, like the next day. Apparently they have people in Kuwait who are of course pretty experienced in this kind of thing.

I note that the Halliburton unit that got the bid is to put out oil well fires in Iraq. How many companies are there in the world that can do that? Didn't Red whasisface put out the oil well fires in Iraq last time?
Perhaps there just aren't many companies that do that and which can qualify to do bidness with the U.S.

News article said that Halliburton put out over 300 Kuwaiti fires so I guess they know what they're doing. Like I said above, they were apparently the only company that could move immediately.
