Shock & Awe on my JW Mom

I called my mom Sunday for a little talk. Our weekly phone calls were curtailed severely by them after the recent crackdown by the Empire. But I still get one in every once in a while.

She brought up the war in Iraq and in what came across to me as an unorganized halfhearted attempt, tried to use it to go into "the End". I launched a little "shock & awe" of my own. (ok ok...I know that phrase is getting a little overworked) I put it into perspective by reminding her that it was an attack on the tyrannical regime in former Babylon in order to disarm him and save innocent people, probably some of whom are JW's. (who will now fear only the weapons of psychological destruction of the tyrants in Brooklyn)

Mom said something about the U.N. and I responded with some precision-guided cruise thoughts on that bunch of jackasses and if they are the "wild beast", well that's a wild stretch of the imagination. (Amazing's post has some good info on this). The U.N. isn't controlled by "Babylon the Great" or the Anglo-American world power, but judging by the chaos I could concede that Satan may have a hand in there.

Then I dropped my heavy artillery. "Mom, who are the Kings of the North and South now?" <stammer, pause, stammer> Well, the Soviets were the King of the North, but it was known that that would change. ( what the F?) I pointed out that there is now no "King of the North" and that the prophecy didn't even fit the Cold War.

It just seemed like she was grasping at old info and a little unsure. I didn't even get to my "mother of all bombs", which was the change in the "Generation" teaching. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and then call again.

    Wish me luck.

    Mike.

    Worth considering this.

Who ARE the Kings of the North and South? Could this be a key to unlocking the R&F's inner doubts?

The Generation - yes, indeed, that's the "mother of all bombs"!

Keep up the good work, Mike.

    Cheers, Ozzie

The following are excerpts frm "Daniel's Prophecy " book 1999

But there is a special target for the wrath of the king of the north. He will "plant his palatial tents between the grand sea and the holy mountain of Decoration," says the angel. In Daniel’s time the grand sea was the Mediterranean and the holy mountain was Zion, once the site of God’s temple. Hence, in the prophecy’s fulfillment, the enraged king of the north conducts a campaign against God’s people. In a spiritual sense, the location "between the grand sea and the holy mountain" represents the spiritual estate of Jehovah’s anointed servants. They have come out of "the sea" of mankind alienated from God and have the hope of ruling on heavenly Mount Zion with *** dp chap. 16 pp. 280-281 The Contending KinJesus Christ.—Isaiah 57:20; Hebrews 12:22; Revelation 14:1.gs Near Their End ***

With the disbanding of the Soviet Union in December 1991, the king of the north suffered a serious setback. Who will be this king when Daniel 11:44, 45 is fulfilled? Will he be identified with one of the countries that were part of the former Soviet Union? Or will he change identity completely, as he has done a number of times before? Will the development of nuclear weapons by additional nations result in a new arms race and have a bearing on the identity of that king? Only time will provide answers to these questions. We are wise not to speculate. When the king of the north embarks on his final campaign, the fulfillment of prophecy will be clearly discerned by all who have Bible-based insight.—See "Kings in Daniel Chapter 11," on page 284

It is clear that the King of North has to be there at the end to be the catalyst to start the ball rolling for Armageddon. But he is not in existence at the moment, at least in a recognizable form - So that must mean that we are NOT approaching the imminent battle because a lot of political activity has to happen first . Right?

That is if you follow the Wtower line of thinking of course .

I guess that is what Bendrr was getting at , I did not mean to duplicate but prhaps I needed to set it out for my own satisfaction . Another line of argument to use...

    Ahh....the MOAB generation teaching.......

I am inactive, my wife is a die hard dubbie, and my bil is studying. Well, he's been studying for about ten years straight that I know of but that's another story. Recently he came over to my house and we got into a conversation about the change in the generation doctrine and how profound an effect that will have on the other house of cards interpretations of the Soceity. The more we discussed it the angrier my wife got, I think because she just didn't see the implications of such a change. She desperately believes just about anything coming from the ivory tower oin Brooklyn. Later that evening, I was chastised for never having anything positive to say about the organization. I told her that she should think more objectively tham emotionally about the org.

Hopefully, you'll fare better with your mom.

What they really wanted to say and may as well have:

"Leave it to us (WT Org,) to speculate for you. We (WT Org.) are wise and privleged and God will call us on the telephone as soon as he is ready to reveal the information."

Ah yes, The King of the North thing......last week my sister informed me that Saddam was the king of the north. So, naturally I responded with, " I remember being taught that Russia was the king of the north..........?" She kindly informed me that, "they used to be" I just left it there and let her think about that.

Years ago when I was in the process of leaving the Borg, my brothers (who had no interest in becoming a JW) and I got into a discussion about the nature of God and His relationship to time. The discussion was very interesting. My JW mother got really upset whenever she would come into the room to hear our discussion. She got so upset she ran in her bedroom and started crying. My JW father came out and chastized us for having such a ridiculous conversation that upset my JW mother.

I know that with my JW mother, she just cannot even fathom that the JWs are wrong about anything. She has given up too much to follow them. It is really sad.
