Jehovah’s Witness warned court will deliver judgment
A church figure has been told by a sheriff that the courts will deliver judgment on his domestic offending and not the Jehovah’s Witness group he is a member of.
Domestic violence is a top priority of Police Scotland and the courts. They don't require the victim's cooperation to bring a prosecution.
The article is badly written with a run-on sentence. Did he appear in court while on bail or did he commit the offense while on bail?

Why would the JWs even be brought into the discussion? I guess the wife was trying to defend him with the Watchtower association?
She could have said any number of things:
Don't take him to jail because ________________ .
a. he walks old ladies across the street
b. gives to charities
c. returned some money he found

I think cofty gives the answer - They don't require the victim's cooperation to bring a prosecution - it seems that the wife does not want to press charges, but the police, now that they have attended the situation, are bringing a prosecution without the victim's cooperation. The wife I presume is presenting the case that she is happy for them to be helped by the involvement of her church ministers rather than the law/police.
(Scotland has it's own laws apart from England and Wales - this is a Scottish only law?)

Historically Scotland has a problem with drink-fuelled domestic violence. The Holyrood matriarchy have declared war. Common sense and police discretion are no longer an option.
Actually, in cases of domestic violence, it is not unusual for the victim to later approach the police and ask that the matter be dropped. The big problem, however, is that many victims of domestic abuse feel coerced by the perpetrator to drop the charges or they feel guilty that their loved one has been arrested. The topic of guilt among victims is a separate topic!
Due to women's advocacy groups, legislation now requires police to take the prosecution to court regardless of the victim's entreaties. It is now rightly treated as a serious criminal matter that does not require the victim's consent.
The JW angle is interesting but perhaps not entirely relevant to the case - except to reveal how far they are from being sterling citizens. Sadly, the same problems that afflict nonJWs also afflict the JWs.
Sadly andy capp. ,flo and the constable seem to see violence and injury as a solution Mmmmm !?
