The history of Israel during the time of Alexander the Great through to the Roman empire is an interesting read in the books of Maccabees. The desolation of the temple by Antiochus IV Epiphanes (ca. 215–164 BCE) in 168 BC on December 25th, and it's restoration on December 25th 165 bC approx. is considered by some to relate to Daniel's chapter 11 of the temples desecration. ... The books give a good insight to the 400 year gap between the OT and the NT......

The Wisdom books obviously inspired the understanding of the divine nature of Christ as the wisdom of God.

If interested in the history during this time period, I would recommend viewing the video in the following link...

From the time of Malachi to the arrival of Jesus and the NT.

From the time of Abraham to entry to the promised land.

From the time of Jesus' death, emergnece of Christianity to the return of Christ.

    There's a time schedule.

You do realise that the BIble is much more violent than the Koran. People have counted the murders, rapes etc in both books, the Bible wins. the problem is much of this violence is done by Bible heros who are never condemned. Heroes like King David, who apparently was such a great guy, he was Jehovah favourite and had the honour of being the major name in Jesus ancestry. The fact he was a murdering barstard dozens of times isnt a problem for Jehovah.

    dear mP...

the koran is only part of the history of the islamic movement...there are also the hadiths, which are more lengthy. they go into the details of what happened in mohammad's campaigns as well as the manipulative nature of his rise to power.

God chose israel as a people. in those days, as in these days, there were wars between nations. The difference between these nations was the fact that God wanted israel to succeed in order that His Christ would be delivered through the nation He chose...to be a blessing to all who would choose Him.

There is no other people nation that God chose.

The thing about king david is that he REPENTED of his sins. God always accepts people who have repentance in their heart.

    mP:

Oh so if i kill an entire family but repent then thats ok and i should walk away without punishment ? Why is God honouring this monster, who lets be frank is no different from other more modern monsters like Hitler and Stalin. They were opportunists and killed to the maximum of their capaicty.

    mP:

How exactly did God help them ? They had no safety from enemies, they lived in a desert and suffered hard lives because of no technology and medicine. How exactly did Egypt, Rome, Greece, Babylon and Persia thrived and made modern progress while the Jews remained backwards.

I dont see the blessings, if anything Jehovah is a curse, just like Allah has cursed all muslim countries. All those countries are shitholes.
