The age of the NT scriptures has nothing to do with the wisdom of its moral teachings on sex outside of marriage.

Sex prohibitions and marriage all stemmed from -

    1. Ancient inheritance rights

    2. Women not being able to own property

A "bastard" is an illegitimate male child with no inheritance rights. A female child born out of wedlock or from a legitimate marriage had no inheritance rights.

Although men married a woman, it was for the sole purpose of producing a legitimate male heir. Men still slept around with whomever they wished.

Physical intimacy is important for physical, mental, and emotional health. The "sin" in not unmarried sex. The sin is producing a child outside of a marriage.

Sex before marriage is usually the only sex one will get.

Like the old joke, "How do you cure a woman of nymphomania? Marry her!

I dont have any high moral aspect toward sex before marriage but I do think individuals should use caution to not fall into a long term relationship just because sex was there, which in the end hurts both people.

Love, likeness and compatibility should be thought of first.

Some of these not so good relationships produced children , then the shit really hits the fan.

I have more sex now as a single male than I ever did in my JW marriage!

Did the Watchowerism fuck with my mind after leaving? Yes! It was hard to shake the feeling that i was doing something "wrong" even though I became an atheist and see marriage as basically a modern day sale/contract.

I only lost virginity at 21 due to being orphaned and survival / life pressure coupled with anxiety stemming from my situation. I didn't like the girl that much and after a month or so called it quits. I couldn't believe how easily my friends would stick it in with such a flippiant and careless attitude. I saw many working class blue collar pregnancies that scared the hell out me, so no more relationships again till my 30th.

I can't help but feel the creators purpose or man and wife with regarding the sex act, that and being somewhat emo I hate hurting peoples feelings. It's a big deal with penetration takes the whole thing to another level that I wasn't prepared to deal with.

Mt thirties were spent catering to my cock's desires and back then tried the phone dating hook up scene prior internet. Luckily for me no pregnancies followed as there were a couple bareback moments.. stupid I know

Got into JW late thirties, dated a little could of led to marriage but again was me opting out before things got serious. Now I figure am just not cut out to be in any relationship. Basically sex equals marriage according to the scriptures..

Now in my fifties if an when I meet someone compatible no problems with it but there will have to be a serious long term relationship otherwise not worth the pain to me, freedom is my friend

I made up my own rules as a pretty sexed up young pioneer. My wife and I were still virgins when we married but we put in a 1000 hours of hand and kissing practice. There is sex and then there is sex. We knew we were compatible in that department.

It's funny, now that we are long out, to see the Society not only getting on the backs of their followers but also crawling between their legs.

I don't think an 18 year old virgin would be teased at all - in fact they seem to think its fairly normal. In fact the kids seem generally far more UN-hung up about sex .

As a secular parent with tween kids but knowing lots of teens (who happen to be sitting in my front garden with my neighbours kids) I thought I'd be the typical embarassing mum and ask them LoL. I asked them if they had a friend who said they wouldn't be comfortable having sex until they were married, would you think they were odd. . No was the answer. They basically told me what you choose to do, or not to do, is completely up to you, its immature to laugh at it or think it's wrong or silly.

All in all they seem to be comfortable enough to think What you do, or don't do in bed is nobodies business but yours, it seems.

I am curious to hear opinions from here

How else would two people know if they're sexually compatible?
