  I personally believe that most of the higher ups at Bethel are simply delusional true believers and are just naively following the public example and teachings set by the conmen who came before them. I don't really see any individual or group who reflect Rutherford in his building of Beth-Sarim.

  So, as far as I know, I don't have much reason to doubt that the majority of the money has gone back into either building projects, writing and distributing their literature, and supporting missionaries. However, those are all a waste of money in my opinion since all they do is promote a narrow-minded and in some ways dangerous ideology.

  Once again though, most of the dangerous and controlling aspects of the organization where simply inherited by the people who run it today and they are just trying to rationalize it because they truly believe it be God's will.

  Well I can tell you that my cousins who are in the higher ups in Bethel are benefiting from the "world wide work" big time. They fly first class all over the world to different branches and then tell the branches how to do the RBC and purchasing stuff. He works in Purchasing and has worked his way up in the last 8 years since they've been there. She works in the laundry, a perfect place for a good witness wife and bethelite.

  We have to remember the corporate officers are a different set of cats then the GB. I'm willing to bet the GB don't have a clue about monitory issues. You can see that a few years ago when one minute they were talking about all the new construction work to be done then the next minute GB Sam Herd is reading a letter talking about tons of cut backs.

  In the end I agree with others that the money is probably being put back in to the corporation to keep it moving and investing with out a crazy amount being pilfered by someone. At the same time one also has to believe that someone high up or an attorney has figured out away to steal some of the money away. Not hard to imagine since the place is being run by a bunch of idiots!

  Rolex would run full page OBC (outer back cover) advertisements for a magazine I used to work at. I've written advertorials on the Submariner collection. The price of the chronograph listed in the above pic is a base rate.The AU conversion takes the price to over $56K of the model Sam Heard is wearing. "Soundness of mind"? I think not. "Fashioned after this system of things"? Considering the majority of "the system" doesn't spring for a watch worth an annual salary, I guess Sam's safe!

  The Governing Body and many important-feeling upper level Watchtower men, just like all the full-time servants, were lower middle level pioneers or others who slaved for not much personal gain (if any).

  So they worked their way to the top. They had a choice to accept the green handshakes, first class travel, hotels, restaurants while traveling, a slightly better apartment while not traveling- which is changed now that they have built new quarters that include more of the higher end luxuries than Brooklyn had.

  But in all the history, the same people of power who accept SOME benefits, because it was a huge step up from slaving, have steered money to JW businesses. There were paper, ink, technology, furniture, construction corporations. There were plenty of lawyers and accountants and realtors.

  So the trade off for the people getting money was that they had to kiss the asses of the Governing Body and/or others that steer the money toward them.

  I believe that they actually have acquired a large amount of debt after they moved to voluntary donations for books, magazines, and brochures. Most of the money will probably go to paying that down, the rest will be stored away collecting interest somewhere as a new revenue stream. That's just my speculative take on it.

  Jw rouge they didn't spend much on mags all free labour, last mags I seen only had 4 sheets of paper folded in half with writing both sides , 16 pages of fairytales aren't going to break w bank. Bigs boys all have according to ray Franz had the bottomless credit card. It doesn't matter how much is in slush fund as long as card swipes . Winning lotto or having a card that never defaults is same thing.
