    Yes this way they could distance themselves from the 6 years ago (1925) debacle when the resurrection of certain men of old didn't occur as Rutherford thought

    Yup, Mr. J.F. Rutherfraud decided to amend the fulfilment of Isaiah's prophecy by coming up with an even catchier name than boring old "Christians."

    (Isaiah 62:2) "And you will be called by a new name, Which Jehovah’s own mouth will designate."

    (Acts 11:26) "...and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians J.W.'s."

    The IBSA name never got discarded though.

    According to the NWT rendering of Acts 11:26, "...the disciples were by divine providence called Christians."

    So it would take divine action to change it, right?

    JWs never seem to ask how Jehovah communicated this change to Rutherford -- voices? Angels?

    Rutherford cited Isaiah 43:10, but despite the existence of that verse, the Jews never called themselves "Jehovah's Witnesses" nor did Jehovah ever criticize them for failing to do so.

    JWs never seem to question why Jehovah apparently didn't care enough about extolling his own name to have his people called by it until 1931.

    As I understand it, only anointed were considered "Jehovah's Witnesses" and the "Jonadabs" or "Great Multitude" were not. Can anyone confirm this from literature? This was the situation initially I am certain.

    That's right JaniceA. It's called new light inspired by God's spirit directed orginisation. Just like all other new light. Does not matter if they have flip flopped on doctrine. This is progress.

    So since the "Faithful Slave" a.k.a. known as the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses was supposedly chosen in 1919, why do we not read in any of the publications about the Governing Body of Bible Students that must have existed from 1919 to 1931?

    Oh how that man must have loved persecution by triggering Christians and Jews with that new name.

    Even when I was still in, 1931 never made sense in "prophetic" sense anyway.
