Summer of 1982 - Cleveland Ohio. I was 13. I really felt like I was doing the right thing. Three brothers were assigned to ask me the questions. The first two were very sweet and kind (grandfatherly types). The third brother got ill so my dad asked me the final set of questions. Boy was he tough! I wasn't allowed to use the book - he expected me to have everything totally memorized. I guess I "passed" though because I was allowed to get baptized.
I remember another young sister from a nearby congregation was getting baptized as well, so we sat by each other. During the questions, we were both shaky so we grabbed each others hand.
Even though I was a stick, my parents made me wear a tee shirt over my bathing suit. Please....
Memories. Glad I left it all behind.
It was January 23rd, 1982.
I was 14.
Oops! I just told you all how old I am!
I mean I was 2. I was very mature for mu age. Able to fluently answer all the 60 questions......
It is a day I will always remember. August 18, 1990. I was only 15 then but really had no idea of what I was getting myself into. I was really pressured by the elders months before to take my stand for Jehovah and to start going over my questions. Afterall all my friends my age were taking their stand, what was my problem? Why do the elders pressure the young ones so much in the congregation to get baptized when its truly clear they are not ready? The one thing that I remember so clearly is that my mother was truly proud of me. I have caused her much hurt and dissapointment since my disfellowshipping. I do find it ironic that the elder who baptized me that day is now gay and truly out of the closet and the borg

So they can control them.
Sorry, can't really remember ...ahhh, the mind heals. I think I was 15 or 16. I've always had a bad memory. In retrospect it was a lot of fuss over nothing.
Many youths were criticized for not getting baptized at a young age. When I got baptized (at 9) it was not that unusual for 10 to 14 year olds to take the dip. There was a lot of pressure for kids to get baptized. I hope they see what resulted!
I remember the day...
Baptized 7/21/.. (10 years old)
Married 6/21/..
Born 5/21/..
Left JWs 4/21/..
I like to keep all my rites of passages easy to remember. Apparently, I will die on March 21st.

I was baptised at a district convention when I was 14. I do not remember where the convention was though. BTW, my dad baptised me.
May 18, 1975. I was 14.
The location was a public swimming pool somewhere in Wolverhampton. I can't remember much about the day. I do remember that I was ill with the flu (that must have been a sign) but went to the CA and sat through the whole program becuase it was my 'special day.' I didn't go to school for a week afterwards. I felt too crappy for it to be a happy day.
I went to Dublin that year with my oldest brother to attend the DA. It was sort of a reward for getting dunked.
