I must admit that I am ignorant of how the animals are treated before they become our dinner entree. All living creatures must be treated humanely, however, regardless if they are our pets... or our supper.

Personally, I couldn't care less. Does that make me heartless? Sure. But, I think that we should take care of unemployment and homelessness before we start worrying about animal right.

    Remember, eating meat is tasty!

You should try your best to find this guy and make sure he does some time or pays some fines for this. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior. Contact PETA if you need help.

I wish it were that easy to where we could just regulate the meat industry and be done with it. The problem lies in the fact that people don't enforce those laws and don't prosecute violators. Then you end up seeing something like this http://www.peta.org/alert/automation/AlertItem.asp?id=699 where ten thousand hens are tossed into a wood grinder just because they couldn't be used any more. Now you would think that someone would be punished for this but with out PETA and others this kind of stuff would happen day in and day out, all happening without us knowing about it. The problem lies in the fact that we don't enough value on animal life in the first place. Consuming animals only aggravates the problem. I personally believe that if people knew, really saw what had to happen for them to have that burger they wouldn't eat it. But then it kind of boils down to the out of sight out of mind scenario.

It would at least make people think. I eat meat but recently halved the meat proportion of my diet. A little awareness and respect goes along way.

I also hate wasting meat. When I'm at a restaurant, I've seen people order some delacacy meat dish, poke around with it a bit, play with it, chew a bit off and leave it. I think to myself that animal got slaughtered to have it's guts neatly presented on a plate and then thrown in the swill bin. What a waste!

I eat meat because I'm an omnivore. sometimes, once or twice a year, I kill one of my sisters rabbits skin/gut it, make a sweet stew. I don't feal bad for the rabbit any more then I do for the carrots. To live is to eat to eat is to kill.

Peta, or People for the Enforcement of their Attitudes, cannot be trusted to present a fair, objective, balanced view of any thing they undertake to represent. Peta is as big a cult as JWs ever thought to be, I refuse to listen to their mind-numbing crap.

If God had not wanted me to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

Frankly, what I eat is none of Peta's business. And I intend to keep it that way.

As with the JWs, if you want the truth of this matter, get it from some other plance than Peta.

Nothing more enjoyable than driving behind someone with a vegan sticker, or peta, pulling around the side of them, and when they look over, take a big bite out of a juicy hamburger.

Francois PETA doesn't try to force people to "convert" to vaganism, like the JW's do with their religon. They don't use any covert tactics to keep it's members in line. They don't pit family members against one another. They don't go door to door, and they don't say you are going to be killed by god if you don't accept their take on things. They are a special interest group like the NRA, or MADD. The cult idea is a bit wacked.

While I agree that some of the material PETA produces in biased, if fact I have seen it first hand when i goto check the facts, I think that applies to just about anything. You have to examine the facts for yourself and from an assortment of opinions. Second I think yourn next statement is completly bogus. You said:

If God had not wanted me to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

But Francois, didn't God make humans out of meat? So I guess it's ok to eat humans then right? Yes! If God had not wanted me to eat humans, he woundn't have made them out of meat! Awsome logic!

So I guess it's ok to eat humans then right?

Yup. For animals, that is. Some animals were and are maneaters. We're just another part of the food chain.

I eat meat because it tastes YUMMY! Spiritually, because they were given to me for food by God. Natuarally, because humans are designed as omnivores. When you start picketing lions for eating Zebras then picket my BBQ.

Animals are not on the same order as humans. While I don't believe in overt cruelty to animals, I don't see our process anymore cruel than tearing out the intestines of a Wildebeast while it's still alive.

Are you aware that there are certain vegtables that provide the required amounts of protein for the human diet?

Zucker, are you aware that the primary source for vitamin B12, a necessary vitamin, is from meat and animal products? You really can't get it without eating eggs, milk, meat or poultry. Yes, you can take vitamins, or eat fortified cereal, but usually not enough B12 is absorbed for optimal health. Lack of vitamin B12 can cause permanent nerve damage. This was one of the things that we discussed in anatomy/physiology.

People who are totally vegan usually refuse to eat eggs, milk, milk products or animal products. This can cause developmental problem for babies who are nursed by mothers who follow a strict vegan diet.

A stupid trend that I have noticed at the health food stores is vegetarian cat food. This is so stupid, I have a hard time believing that it is allowed to be on the shelves. Cats are carnivores and must have meat. To deny your kitty meat, in order to force it to comply with some sentimental human philosophy, is also animal abuse because the cat is slowly being starved to death.

Francois PETA doesn't try to force people to "convert" to vaganism, like the JW's do with their religon. They don't use any covert tactics to keep it's members in line. They don't pit family members against one another. The cult idea is a bit wacked.

Oh, huh. I have been to a few Peta meetings. They DO attempt to force you to be a vegetarian. I was snubbed the first couple of times for wearing leather shoes. If you think that the idea that they are a cult is wacked, you haven't been to some of the meetings I have been to. I quit going because those people scared me and I do not scare easily. I would call them demented and their own worst enemy in trying to get their message across.

Now, having said all that, I do not support cruelty to animals. I have been known to come unhinged at seeing an animal being mistreated. I have gotten in people's faces, called police--who did nothing, btw. I have called down curses on people that I know abuse animals (yes, they got zapped, usually within 24 hours...so maybe God does care) I, too, have decided not to eat veal. I spend extra money for free range chicken eggs and for free range meat. I have educated people about animals and I am making plans on trying to help with animal rescue.

But, in the end, life is a cycle and everything dies so that others may live. You, too, will die one day so that others may live.

    Robyn
